Countries population are influenced by fertility, migration and life expectancy. Since women were finally given more rights (although men still rule) they haven been able to choose whether they want to have children or not. And because of this you see a scary decline in countries like Italy, Japan, etc. Not many are having 2.5 children anymore.

Migration is key to keep a young population to pay for the increasing number of pensioners. The UK was doing ok until the conservatives who slashed immigration numbers, pushed away those that were already here and now businesses are closing because they don't have enough staff (like hospitality and retail) and hospitals/care homes don't have enough nurses and carers to look after the aging population.

Countries with right wing/nationalist governments will suffer more, and this is already happening. We won't see it, and our children probably won't see it, but a major decline inĀ  world population is coming and if you add climate change into the mixture, things are not looking good for the planet in the future.

Yes, and you're right about climate change. I really think that is going to speed up the decline significantly.
