Pluto & Charon from New Horizons
Pluto comes into focus
We are all about to see Pluto like never before, thanks to NASA's New Horizons spacecraft.
By Claudine Ryan, Matthew Liddy, Ash Kyd and Ben SpraggonWe are all about to see Pluto like never before, thanks to NASA's New Horizons spacecraft.
Did you know that until very recently, the best images we had of Pluto were just a few pixels in size? That's right: those pictures you have in your head of what Pluto looks like are mere artists' impressions.
But that's all about to change.
"Nothing like this has been done in a quarter century and nothing like this is planned by any space agency ever again."
Alan Stern, NASA
A piano-sized spacecraft named New Horizons is due to whiz past the icy dwarf planet at the far edge of our solar system on July 14, after a journey of more than nine years and 5 billion kilometres.
Full amazing story and what you can expect to see after next weeks Flyby>> http://www.abc.net.au/news/2015-07-09/pluto-comes-into-focus/6566818
Very exciting!

Wonderful technology. The New Horizon is the fastest satellite, it's travelling at 36,000 mph!

The Pluto-bound probe will zoom past the dwarf planet, making its closest approach on Tuesday at 7:49 a.m. EDT -- and it will offer the first-ever up-close glimpse of our solar system's beloved Pluto.
You can watch a live countdown to the closest approach and a discussion of the historic event on a NASA TV livestream on link below.

Amazing! That one shot, the ice (I'm guessing it's ice) is sorta in the shape of a heart

It looks like ice, but I'm not so sure it would be.
