Recycle or Reuse?...
A look at recycling and the amount of watse we produce.

Do citizens and policymakers truly care? In America, don't bet the ranch on it. After all, we live in a society in which you can get seriously injured or even trampled to death by a stampede of rabid Black Friday shoppers who must buy stuff, much of which is probably not necessary. "Our problem," says Leonard, "is not just that we're using too much stuff, but we're using more than our share."

Re: Recycle or Reuse?...
Thats a really good point Tim...after all, why use plastic at all when you could use reusable glass bottles?
Another aspect to it as well is where does the waste go to be recycled...I've read that in the US, shipping containers get loaded with plastic waste to be backloaded to China for recycling.

Get out, you're kidding, right? That's like loading your dirty dishes into your car and then driving two towns over to wash them?
Glass is heavy and pricey to ship and there's a lot of breakage and loss... seems reusability has nothing on the allure of slightly better profit margins

Kaere, before we started using plastic we were using bottles. Nothing has really changed in using bottles, except peoples lazy attitude. Bottles are not only better they are more healthy to use than plastic. The fall out from plastic has yet to appear, it might be taking long but its coming. The corporations are not thinking people, they are thinking money.

Yes a lot of our recyclable waste from this country also gets shipped abroad People just don't realise this, they think they are doing good by putting things in their recycling bin. Fact is their are just too many humans on this planet producing too much waste, I think we are beyond help!

Stirks, I do not think we have too many people on the planet. I do think we all have brains and should be able to change things when we have made mistakes. If we allow things to get out of hand and have no solutions at hand then we are going to be where we are now.
If democracy and capitalism has brought us here with no check and balances, then its time to get rid of it.
