Re: Mindfulness
Great advice.... not easy to follow though.... I actually disagree with the 'non striving'... we need to want and desire things, if we don't have goals then we can't ever achieve anything.... or am I reading this wrong.
One funny bit: when I read 'observe your breath' I thought they were talking about 'fixing your bad breath'!
hahaha

Re: Mindfulness
You're reading it right however I believe the 'non-striving' part is based more around the idea of non-attachment to result or expectations. To not be so wrapped up in getting that promotion or bigger house or letting your emotional condition depend on someone else's reactions to you... that kind of thing. Living mindfully means living in the now, appreciating the now and experiencing the now... instead of the future. It is a wonderful way to reduce anxiety and worry.

You can be so simply and effective, Ags, I am so laughing my head off at your last statement.Agartha wrote:Great advice.... not easy to follow though.... I don't think it meant you should not strive in that sense, but things will come to you in terms of observation. Observing breath without expectation is a valuable tool for self control.

You are right, it is living in the now.... I am able to achieve it mostly and I am usually happy with what I have.... but then some things that are out of my control drive me nuts, and these are the instances when I should actually apply the advice in Rogue's OP!!
.... but I usually fail...... meh...... lol
