Syria was hit with drought, their government did nothing, sparked the anger, and the civil war which they flee from which is also now infused with AQ and IS factions, that is what they wish to escape from, yet they are treated as if thy are the same as that which they flee from.

Climate Change caused the drought there Len. The central part of Syria is semi-desert and like Mali and Niger, climate change is hitting them hard.

Assad's response to the plight of the people was poor but he's no different to any other politician namely; out of touch with the reality of the people and the situation they were in.

We are going to see more mass migrations as the climate changes.
