This is very interesting. There are so many different sides to life, and so many things that have been there for times we cannot remember. Although some of us think these things are new, some of us know we are just now beginning to pay attention.

The thing that raises my attention level, is why the Name "Steve"? It makes me think of an entity made of light energy.

Oh, it's in the article. They chose the name Steve because of the movie "Over The Hedge". There's a scene in the movie where the animals (having just woken up from winter hibernation) encounter something they've never seen before (a hedge around a new housing subdivision). They have no idea what it is but think they would not be so frightened of it if they knew what to call it so they give it a name, Steve. It's a joke lol  So those who came across the "magic marker colour" in the sky but don't yet know what it is called it Steve as well. Obviously, one of them has children lol

I usually look at these things very seriously because they pop up out of the blue and I am aware that some one gave it a serious thought. It has now taken on a life of its own.
