Re: Do you believe the Holy Bible ?
Its not difficult to know the original intent of the bible...and its not difficult to pick out where man's agenda kicks in
god is intended to look egotistical and somewhat vengeful.,,its how the people in power then policed us...with fear
god/gods are not vengeful...and do not punish...those are animal qualities

Yes, it's about who we are.......
The Scriptural text is an entity that has been handed down over the centuries and is therefore subject to the same sort of errors as any other transmitted text. . . .

Yet people like rock will say Stichen's interpretation is incorrect, yet he cannot show us the proper interpretation.

Re: Do you believe the Holy Bible ?
The Messiah was NEVER called 'Jesus' during His lifetime on earth. The name by which He was known to His Israeli mother, His Israeli countrymen, His Jewish disciples and His enemies; the Name which appeared on the Hebrew Temple records at His Dedication, His Bar mitzvah and His Trials; the Name which was written on the inscription on His Torture Stake . . . .
His name was YAHU'SHUAH

I would love to see an "official" translation...you won't ever see it because...the population of earth...would 100% wake up....

Admitting intervention from more advanced beings is totally unacceptable.

Interesting thoughts..........
So what is your faith in?
Is this rhetorical? I don't know so I'll answer anyway.
I feel that all these ancient texts or the kinds of things you've posted here have nothing to do with any higher power or source or anything of the kind. They are manmade and earthbased, a way to explain the unexplainable.
I have no faith in the way you're looking for an answer, nothing that can really be defined (as far as I know).

Guess I'm fundamentally different than you and many of your cohorts here. lsol
From the Papyrus of Nu
I have not committed sins against men.
I have not opposed my family and kinsfolk.
I have not acted fraudulently in the Seat of Truth.
I have not known men who were of no account.
I have not wrought evil.
I have not made it to be the first [consideration daily that unnecessary] work should be done for me.
I have not brought forward my name for dignities.
I have not [attempted] to direct servants. [1]
.
I have not defrauded the humble man of his property.
I have not done what the gods abominate.
I have not vilified a slave to his master.
I have not inflicted pain.
I have not caused anyone to go hungry.
I have not made any man to weep.
I have not committed murder.
I have not given the order for murder to be committed.
I have not caused calamities to befall men and women.
I have not plundered the offerings in the temples.
I have not defrauded the gods of their cake-offerings.
I have not carried off the fenkhu cakes [offered to] the Spirits.
I have not committed fornication.
I have not masturbated [in the sanctuaries of the god of my city].
I have not diminished from the bushel.
I have not filched [land from my neighbour's estate and] added it to my own acre.
I have not encroached upon the fields [of others].
I have not added to the weights of the scales.
I have not depressed the pointer of the balance.
I have not carried away the milk from the mouths of children.
I have not driven the cattle away from their pastures.
I have not snared the geese in the goose-pens of the gods.
I have not caught fish with bait made of the bodies of the same kind of fish.
I have not stopped water when it should flow.
I have not made a cutting in a canal of running water.
I have not extinguished a fire when it should burn.
I have not violated the times [of offering] the chosen meat offerings.
I have not driven away the cattle on the estates of the gods.
I have not turned back the god at his appearances.

Re: Do you believe the Holy Bible ?
VM: I am not an atheist, I am an agnostic as I cannot say whether God exists or he doesn't.
I agree with Kaere, Rock and Mordae.........the bible is not the word of god......or if it is, then that God is a horrible, jealous, vindictive being.
Besides the hundreds of contradictions, we have: hatred towards homosexuals.....hatred against those that belong to another religion or country..........promotes slavery...........promotes treating women as dirty second class citizen that are just a property to their men..........
If you believe what the bible says then you shouldn't eat pork (bacon), etc, as it is forbidden.
(see Deutoronomy).
What about the disgusting stories of incest that the bible tells us to celebrate? (like Lot and his daughters).
The day I read the bible from top to bottom, that day I stopped believing in it. And I feel the same about the Quran too (after reading it).
But, I respect other people's choices, and if they wish to believe in it, then fine with me.

It's about who we are. You people don't get it.
Take a look @ yourself.
Look at Atheistic Counties, even worse (USSR).
Then again, look at Poland and Pope John, they threw the bums out!
Godless people here, people without faith.......

Re: Do you believe the Holy Bible ?
VM I believe in god, but I do not believe in the bible, I do not steal, lie, murder or anything like that as I have a consciousness that tells me that it is wrong to do those things, is it not possible to believe in god without believing in a book man wrote, the answer to that is yes it is possible, the same way that it is possible for me to not attend church yet know that god is everywhere not just in stone buildings.

Never said that Sitchin's interpretation was incorrect. What I did say was that he was never an expert on the Sumerian texts and because he was exposed as a charlatan, it immediately calls into question everything he did say. To try and back his words he claimed to be a genuine full-blooded Sumerian when we also know that there are none left and haven't been for 2500 yrs. They were fully assimilated into the Hittite and Canaanite societies. Do try to keep up VM.
Let me tell you about a myth that can take on a life of it's own; back in 1900 Brian Barclay published a novel titled the 'Men of Sherwood'. The book never really took off but in it there was a mention of an outlaw named Robin in the Hood. Within 100yrs we now have a full myth of this fellow who robbed the rich and gave to the poor, was some sort of anti-hero and was able to split a stick with an arrow at 100 paces. That was in just 100 yrs so it's easy to see how a myth can take on a life of it's own.

Exactly Rin. Just because I am an Atheist doesn't mean that I can't live by basic rules that keep society peaceful. They are simply logical and are needed to meld all different kinds of peeps together in harmony. I don't need a big fella to do that!

Re: Do you believe the Holy Bible ?
And often it's those who claim others beliefs (such as the big bang theory for example...just sayin') are those of "Bible babblers".
The point missed is that the question was about the Bible...not sumerian texts or other religious writings.
