New "Mind Reading" Brain Implant Being Developed

Just came across this today - scientists have developed a brain implant which can pick up the electrical signals that would normally be involved in speech, and then convert them into simulated speech:

I think it's a cool development which has potential benefits, but it's also slightly scary from the point of view that it could lead to thought police becoming real!
