Premonitions

So I was wondering, does anyone else here get them?

It happens to me sometimes, and I can't explain easily: I'm doing something random, or see something random, live, and it suddenly feels like I'm reliving a memory. I suddenly think "Wow, this is familiar" and then realise I'm doing that particular thing or seeing that particular situation unfold for the first time - so there should be no familiarity!

It doesn't have to be anything significant, it can be the snapshot I see when looking round a room, going through my wallet, having a plate of food put in front of me, etc etc. It actually tends to be the totally insignificant, minor everyday things that it happens with.

I'd been thinking about it in the last couple of days, and this afternoon it happened again: I'd just unplugged my tablet after charging it, and as I was moving the tablet about in my hands to put the charging-port cover back in place and turn the tablet on, I remembered "seeing" this happen in exactly this way before(Against exactly the same background and in exactly the same lighting conditions, darkened by the drawn curtains) and then it hit me again, so I decided to make a thread about it. (I was in that not-fully-conscious state which we experience in the first 5 minutes after waking up from a long sleep, so maybe that influenced it, I dunno.)

I first started experiencing them when I was about 13, along with other intuitive experiences, and they used to freak me out a bit, but as time has gone on they've interested me more and more.

Yes... Exactly! But with things that I'm seeing happen for the first time!
Feels a bit surreal TBH.

I think that is deja vu, you've described it exactly. Feeling that you've done or seen something before when you haven't.

I have it sometimes, when I'm tired usually.

Wow... Thanks for the clarification! I always thought deja vu had a different meaning than that, IE that it meant witnessing an actual repetition of a past situation(At least that's how it's commonly described here anyway). Good to know what it actually means LOL! Now I've Wiki'd it, I understand it's easily confused with precognition, but different.

Interesting how it often seems to happen when our consciousness is altered.

I get deja vu quiet frequently, regardless of how tired I am.... I remember reading people with stimulated immagination gets deja vu more frequently than other.

That's interesting actually... if deja vu is related to the imagination, it's kinda like creating reality. Sorta. Hmmm... *ponders*
