Religion v Science Empty Re: Religion v Science

Very interesting video! I agree with Nye, I am an agnostic, there is no evidence to prove whether a God exists or doesn't exist.... however, I lean more to my atheist side because if there was a God children wouldn't be born with cancer and diseases that will make them suffer (just one example).

There are thousands of religions with thousands of Gods and Goddesses and they all claim to be the real one. Who is right? Can they all be right? Can they all be wrong?  I say, live and let live, believe in what you want but don't impose your beliefs on society.

But, as an answer to the video, no, I don't think science has made religion useless because many people need faith to live, they rely on faith to go on. And there's nothing wrong with it.

Yes, I thought they made some good points around the positives to people's lives when they have faith. Whether it's actually real or not, it's true to them.

LOL science was not very advanced and people believed all sort of myths.
The virgin birth is also only mentioned in two gospels and perhaps this was invented to incorporate pagan traditions that worshipped goddesses (just like all other Christian celebrations are really pagan).

Yes, very different times, very different knowledge and understandings. Makes me wonder when people quote the bible verbatim and expect that it neatly fits in to the world we know.
