That is sad to hear, especially as it seems to have become an almost self-perpetuating issue as they start to forget their song.
Hope the rescue plan for them and their song will work! They look like beautiful birds.

There are many varieties of Honeyeaters around Australia. The one you see mostly in WA is this one..

They nest and breed in the trees around my house... a lovely bird especially when the young start leaving the nest. The parents start teaching them to catch bugs and are quite protective of the brood.

They’re so pretty, love the colours on them! 
Birds there are so much more colourful than the ones here. It’s like the crayon set has been used perfectly. LOL
