Re: Dancing robots
Wow!! Amazing videos! Especially the first one IMO, as that shows individual robots dancing independently of each other but seemingly still in sync!
Love it!
And yeah, I get what you’re saying about the scary side and Skynet too!

Re: Dancing robots
It looks so cool and yes amazing, I mean think of the programming that had to happen to make it all come together like that.
It does scare one though, I mean... at what point does sentience happen? Will we notice it in them first or will they?

Re: Dancing robots
I thought the same kind of thing, K - it looks like that point at which the robots become sentient is being approached. Eerie, somehow!

Re: Dancing robots
But what makes you think it's being approached now?
I mean... is it because their movements look they way they do? Just because they've been programmed to move a certain way doesn't mean they're making it happen, y'know? It's more of the programmer's personality than their own.
Perhaps we just find it eerie because we might understand that technically they're just following a program, it looks much too "natural" for our caveman senses to think it's anything but autonomous.

Re: Dancing robots
It was essentially because their movements are so lifelike, yep.
Pretty unnerving, good programming or no!

Re: Dancing robots
Exactly, at what point do they become or do they believe they have become sentient?
These robots are now programmed to troubleshoot, find solutions to survive and/or continue tasks. I think the problem will arise if they finally train robots to kill 'enemies', and to decide who the enemy is. We are not there yet, but I do see it happening in the future.
Just follow Elon Musk. He'll be the first one to create a self thinking robot/android for war (I can't stand the guy).
If you don't want to watch all 14 minutes, skip to 9.45 minutes.

Re: Dancing robots
These videos look really interesting but I don’t have time to watch them right now, so I’m posting now and registering my intent to watch them later on when I can. LOL

Re: Dancing robots
OK, watched the videos now… Really fascinating and thought-provoking!
The first one shows how advanced the robots have become(And seemingly it was made back in 2017; they’ve probably become even better since then!).
And the particular models of robot look to have their own character as well; the funniest robot IMO is the two-wheeled one which is stacking boxes, I keep thinking it looks like a promiscuous vacuum cleaner. LOL
The Elon Musk video is fascinating because of the sheer complexity of what he’s describing and suggesting. (That’s actually the first time I’ve watched a video of him or heard him speak, I find his voice difficult to get used to! LOL)
The thought of being able to record/store/download memories is mindblowing!
That’s definitely blurring the boundary between organisms and machines!

Re: Dancing robots
Sadly, they have made a flying drone armed with a explosive charge that fires a cone of death into humanoid targets and it is allowed to decide on the kill by itself.
