Re: UK Crisis
It seems to be escalating insanely. We might be heading for a situation similar to the riots we had in major cities in 2011. :-/

Re: UK Crisis
Yep. It's a disaster... on Sunday I had to leave work to try to find petrol because I had just over a quarter tank left and I need the car to go to work! Otherwise I would have to take two buses and a journey of 75 minutes each way.
This is all because of Brexit. No matter what Tory and Brexit supporters say, this is not Covid, because we don't see this in any other european countries. This is Brexit.
And the English politicians have the audacity to offer a 3 months visa to lorry drivers from Europe, but it's only valid until the 24th of December, and the home secretary has already said all drivers will be escorted out of the UK on the 24th and penalised if they don't... she also said it is a privilege to work in the UK and this privilege shouldn't be abused... they still think they are masters of the universe! No European lorry driver will come like that, in fact, they have all been posting on social media that the last place on Earth they would go is the UK.
Scotland should become independent now and leave the chaotic insane mess England has become!
I also deeply regret settling in the UK... if I had known I would have gone to a country that appreciates foreign workers.

Feels like it came out of left field, so fast for things to disintegrate!
Stay safe guys, take good care of you.

Re: UK Crisis
It all sounds like a dreadful perfect storm! Has it affected your price of petrol, and has it affected the Scottish supermarket stocks and prices?

Some petrol stations have increased the petrol, yes... I had to get the special one which is more expensive. There is also a £30 cap per car.... fingers crossed it will all go back to normal soon, I know community nurses and carers who have run out of petrol and can't go visit patients.
Yesterday in England a fuel truck was followed by cars to see where he was going... it's like a Mad Max movie or something!
Thanks K, luckily Scotland is more civilized than England and nobody had been fighting.

Re: UK Crisis
Really well said Aggie! Brexit has taken a while to start having a real effect, and that’s actually taken longer still because of the Covid situation, but it’s really happening now.
Scotland does feel safer and more sane, yes, and I definitely hope for a successful IndyRef2 when we do eventually have it, that would help our situation so much!
That situation with cars following a fuel truck does totally remind me of Mad Max!! And the irony of drivers burning fuel pointlessly to see where another vehicle is going… LOL!
Hope you can stay safe as well, and keep finding enough fuel to be OK!

There is nothing in the news here anymore. Is it all over now? Any updates?

Re: UK Crisis
My understanding is that it’s easing off now and fuel supplies have started getting back towards normal, still with some shortages at the moment but not so bad anymore.
But Aggie will know best, she’s experiencing the situation on a daily basis!

Re: UK Crisis
We are ok in Scotland but not England, I have been told in London there are still struggling to get petrol.
