Re: Change of Seasons
Interesting article!
Autumn is definitely starting later where I am this year, summer weather and temperatures have gone on probably a month longer than usual.

Re: Change of Seasons
I wonder if Springs are also getting shorter due to climate change? Or maybe longer due to global warming?

Re: Change of Seasons
Interesting question Ags. With the rising temperatures Summer and Winter extremes will apparently increase.

Re: Change of Seasons
You are right, we can see that already.... but the 'intermediate' seasons are my favourite and I don't want them to end up disappearing (blending into seasons that are not either Autumn nor Spring).

Re: Change of Seasons
Yes agreed that would be a great shame but would probably have huge consequences as well.

Re: Change of Seasons
In my area it’s been a really weird year in terms of seasons, we had no spring at all.
We had winter weather and temperatures right up till the last week of May, first time that’s happened here in my lifetime, then in the space of 2-3 days it absolutely transformed and suddenly it became scorching hot and sunny, all day every day, even hotter than it usually is in late May, which is usually a warm time of year.
It literally went from winter straight to summer! Spring was missed out!
I’ve experienced some pretty weird and messed-up weather here already, but that was something else, something unprecedented.
Makes you wonder what the climate is gonna do next.

Re: Change of Seasons
I guess the UK is a particularly interesting place to observe climate change as it’s happening, because it’s at the meeting point of several different air masses from completely different parts of the world, as well as being influenced by the Jet Stream from the air and by the Gulf Stream from the ocean on one side.
Any difference in any of these things is gonna have a disproportionate effect on our climate here. We’re like a climate change Petri dish.
