Memphis| A group of volunteers cleaning up the shores of the Mississippi river near the biggest city in Tennessee, have stumbled upon the remains of an ancient boat encrusted in mud. A team of archeologists from the University of Memphis that was rapidly called to the site, confirmed that the ship is most certainly a Viking knarr, suggesting the Norse would have pushed their exploration of America a lot further than historians previously thought.

I'm not sure about the source yet so still to be taken with a grain of salt. But pretty exciting, no?

It is possible. The Vikings left various artifacts around the Great Lakes. So it could be that some of them did paddle down the Mississippi.

This might appeal... it discusses aboriginal peoples from Australia and environs traveling, perhaps being swept up in storms etc, and evidence of their colonization in unexpected parts of the world. By the BBC.

There is nothing about it going on around here that I can find . I made a few inquiries and I believe it is a complete hoax .Not to say someday something like this couldnt be discovered here . . There is no evidence that the early Chinese crossed the Pacific Ocean. They did travel all the way around Sth. East Asia and had maps of the northern coast of Australia.

The pre-European natives of the Americas crossed the Baring Strait or island hopped through the Aleutian Islands or both.

Sorry Kaere, but worldnewsdaily is a satirical site that posts hoax news as real news.........they are sort of like The Daily Currant (that I've mentioned before that posted about the 'message from God found in DNA'.)
