I was expecting more of an extended rumbly sound than a gunshot crack, quite intense to witness.

I wonder how long they waited there for the right moment?

My cousin lives in the South of Argentina and they got all the ashes there now. He posted a pic on FB yesterday, it was lunchtime, the sun high in the sky and yet it was as dark as late evening... still like that now apparently.

I heard on Al Jaz that the ash has got as far as Buenos Aires Ags!

That is an amazing distance!

Rogue, the ash has caused a lot of eye and skin irritation, plus some people are saying it looks like 'the end of the world'! lol

Yes Tim, it has reached Buenos Aires, although it is not as bad as in the south. My cousin lives in Viedma which is aprox. 900 KM from the volcano and the ashes are causing problems there too... the power of mother nature, eh?

Yeah Ags it can be a problem. The ash is literally powdered glass! Breathe it in and get some very serious damage.
