Seeing Different Colours
A woman who can see colours that others can't. I find this fascinating, she (and others) can see different colours in the spectrum, etc. Which leads me to the further thought of... well, if certain people can see different colours, etc because of genetic mutation... seeing things that are there that others can't detect... well then... perhaps those of us who can see/hear/feel 'spirit' are just experiencing a genetic mutation if spirit is nothing but energy then who's to say that we aren't just detecting that energy more strongly than others?

(it's a long article, I won't post all of it. There's some of her artwork on the article, to show what she sees compared to what we see).

Re: Seeing Different Colours
Fascinating Ka. I'm told we can see 32 million different shade of colours but hardly recognise them all.
I see sounds as colours and a bit of Classical music, when I listen to it with my eyes closed, is like watching a aurora!

That is supercool, Tim! Can I ask, do you ever find it invasive? Like when you're needing to sleep but street noise (in a city for example) keeps colours in your vision?

Re: Seeing Different Colours
No it's never been a problem Ka. I was born with it so I don't really know anything different.
The forms and shapes differ too according to the sounds. A strident sound has a sharp jagged look and a soft melodious sound sort of floats like curtains. Different sounds - different colours!
When I am awake it is just around the periphery of my vision.
Tim.

I too get the same as Tim, we have discussed it before. When you are younger you don't think of it as anything different, you just think it's what everybody experiences.

Re: Seeing Different Colours
Also I've often wondered do we all see the same colours? I mean I see something as red, but somebody else might call that colour red but see it as I would see green? If you get what I mean?? We also may be able to see colours with different intensity.

Re: Seeing Different Colours
You raise an interesting point Stirkles.
For me it's more the shapes rather than the colours. Generally though the deeper the sound the darker it is. So a heavy drum beat looks almost black.
Heavy metal music looks like fireworks to me.

Re: Seeing Different Colours
Very interesting! I have never heard of Tetrachromancy!!
In my mum's family my uncle and cousin are both colour blind. I remember they were told that colour blindness usually ran in families but only affect the males.
Tetrachromancy only seems to affect women and apparently 1 in 25 of us have it!!!
Unfortunately I don't...... and I say unfortunately because after seeing Concetta's painting of a tree, I wish my world was so colourful!
Amazing your experiences, Tim and Stirks!! I have never seen music as colours or shapes...... but I do see other things differently, for example dates...... I see the year as an oval that is divided in 12 sections that have different colours... and I do remember dates by remembering the colour of the section they were in...... very difficult to explain.

Re: Seeing Different Colours
...I see the year the same way sorta Aggie! But not colours, mine is time. An oval spread out in front... Christmas day is right in front of me, then New Year's slightly to the left (7:00)... January turns the corner, Feb Mar April blur together at 9:00, May is longer and it's at 11 o'clock, June is right across, then July Aug are smudged together, September is at about 1:30, Oct Nov blur together, and then December starts at around 4:00.

Re: Seeing Different Colours
Wow!! I can't believe we see it similar!!! But yours with time.......
Mine is an oval, I am always 'standing' between January and February, January on the right, February on the left..... January is always white, February is always grey.... I should draw it to make you guys see what I see...... I think I'll do that!!!

Re: Seeing Different Colours
Please don't laugh at my drawing, I have never been artsy.
This is how I see the year but bare in mind that in my head they are 3D and interactive, they light up when there's something happening in one of the months. Also, the colours I chose for my drawing are aproximate....... not like the real thing.
... December is always gold and shimmery, but I didn't feel like searching through my daughter's art draw to find gold glitter. Since the birth of my sons, March as become blue....... since the birth of my daughter April has become pink.
My daughter has just seen this drawing and told me I'm weird....... great!
hahaha

Re: Seeing Different Colours
Gosh! We have artists in our midst!
Flies can't see red so if you use a flyswat get a red one. The flies can't see it coming!
Bees see flowers into the ultra-violet which explains why they are attracted to flowers that are deep blue.
Tim.
