This tune caused controversy because some folks were saying it was about date rape. Some radio stations removed it from their playlists! There was an outcry and at least CBC has returned it to their playlists with a proviso that if you don't like the tune, feel free to tune it out for five minutes.

Sounds like a case of political correctness gone bonkers to me, I love the song too and I've never read that kind of meaning into it! I think it's a lovely song, cleverly written.

This year, probably because I am pissed off I am working Christmas, I have decided to avoid all usual songs and listen to alternative Christmas music. Despite the video this is a love songs and the lyrics, as usual, are incredible!
