Re: Charlie Hebdo arrives in the UK
Here, in the Amurikan Empire, I am a Progressive, a left wing person by the views of the ruling party right now, And they are looking to strip money for more to be poued into the war machine and the Corporate Welfare, when what we need is infrastructure repairs and making our social safety nets stronger and more progressive. Sadly, the far right "Gold over People" party is looking to do the corporate and Oligarchial bidding, so I wonder what nation will be a "Threat" next?

Re: Charlie Hebdo arrives in the UK
Stirks, I was just reading yesterdays poll and with those aged 18 to 39 Greens are third, with the tories second and Labour first. But for those aged 40+ the greens are last. Apparently the Greens are getting more and more members, which means they are getting more members than UKIP (see here: LINK ). The Green party is a big thing with young, white, middle class people but those my age and older are rejecting it as they see them as a bunch of hippies..... I think it's time I join my local Green club, as soon as I have time.
Rogue, what other political parties do you have in Australia? Do you have labour and conservatives like in here?
Rock, I agree, right wing parties always come out when there is a recession, blaming foreigners for everything and it's funny cause most of those with the right wings do not even work and they live on benefits paid by those foreigners who came to England to do the jobs nobody wanted to do. I have seen it with my own eyes: the NHS hospitals would close immediately if foreigners leave, as 75% of nurses and nursing assistant are foreigners. Even doctors and consultants are mostly foreigners.... why can't we all live together in peace, regardless of where we come from and our beliefs??? I have been in England for 20 years now, I never came to abuse the system and never came to take anybody's jobs.
Len, I am sure your government is already planning which country to invade next...

The Greens in the most part have shed their hair shirts and sandals mentality and moved into the mainstream but with environmental issues in mind.
Know what ya sayin' Len. I'm more Centrist with a list to the left.
The problem we face is that the Free Market Capitalism is so ingrained now it will take a revolution to shift it.
Tim.

We have in Parliament currently Liberals and Nationals (Right) and Labor and Greens (Left), and now Palmers United Party (born from the right, but a bit all over the show), and a splattering of independants. The Liberals and Nationals have formed a coalition and currently hold government.

Same here with our current coalition between the liberals and conservatives after the last election.

Re: Charlie Hebdo arrives in the UK
Her we have to the right Republican(GOP) which some call "Gold over People", then the Tea-Party Republicans, Libertarians of the Business types, and we actually do have Nazi like political parties to the far far right
Left we have Democrats, Progressives, Greens, and Communist and Socialist parties
BUT the main thing is that Republican have the Tea-party riding amongst them, and Progressives attempt to keep the Democrats on the side of the people.
Full list, more than I thought, I did find that the "Constitutional Party is actually a Theocratic party, they just are using Constitution to sell it better than calling themselves the "God Party"
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_political_parties_in_the_United_States
Keep in mind only the 2 p[arty system is in effect, Only along with Republicans or Democrats can you get inside the Gov. Independents can swing Dem or Rep.

Wise man Stirkles!
We have a MMP system here where no single political party can ever get full control. They must form a coalition with at least one other party.
At present we have the Nationals (Tory) with John Key with Fletcher of ACT (far right silly party) and Pete 'Wind in the Willows' Dunne's Futures party. Called that because Pete bends whichever way the wind blows and wants a ministerial position whichever party is in power. They have a 1 seat majority.
Labour and the Greens are in opposition right now. Labour here is led by Andrew Little, an ex-union man. In the past Labour has been just a variation of the Nats and been referred to as "Gnatlite" by many. Little may change that but I'm not holding my breath.
