Medications in the Water Empty Medications in the Water

Post by Kaere Sat Jul 25, 2015 3:08 pm

Here ya go... traces of cocaine, morphine, and oxycodone found in water supplies in Southern Ontario. I know other water supplies have shown traces of birth control hormones and other medications but those medications (apparently) reduce their concentrations as the water makes it's way through the waste water filtering systems before becoming drinking water again. The levels of illegal drugs are not being reduced in the same way. I guess we're all Charlie Sheen.

This has always concerned me about recycling waste water. But we keep being told it comes to us totally pure.

What is safe and pure nowadays? The air is polluted..... the water is polluted...... the food is polluted. Our bodies are probably evolving right now to survive all this.

I know all those chemicals are in incredibly small amounts, but I don't think we can tell yet if they are affecting our bodies one way or another... and switching to bottle water won't do any good as more than 25% of bottle water comes from tap anyway.

And I don't think boiling or using a filter like Britta  would do anything to get rid of those chemicals........ lucky those that have their own water well, I say!!

I find it interesting that they can filter out some medications but not all. Like, why is the illegal stuff not being reduced in concentration?

Bah@!

You're right a fliter or boiling won't get rid of the chems. Only distillation will. If you're gong to the trouble of setting up a still then you may as well go into the Moonshine business!
