Light Therapy
Light Therapy as a treatment for general depression. I know a lot of people use light therapy to battle the winter blues but it seems it may have a wider application. Anything that helps to break down that wall is good imo.

Re: Light Therapy
Very interesting! So I guess light affects our brain and produces serotonin..... does this mean that people in places with good weather are happier than those in places with bad weather? Are Jamaican people happier than Scottish? (for example...)

It's possible their moods are steadier as opposed to fluctuating strongly as the hours of light do over the course of a year. Scandinavian countries have noticed the SAD phenomenon for centuries, there's a specific word the Danish use to describe getting together and doing cozy family things to help fend off the poor winter mood that can occur. I just can't think of it right now *ponders*

I think its probably quite an individual thing and believe i suffered to a degree from SAD during the NZ winters but have not experienced it here in WA. Therefore i reckon light therapy would be a positive for some people and their mood downturns.

Yup we are affected by light to our betterment. The shorter days and lower light levels are known to cause the 'Winter Blues".
We also need sun on our skin to make Vitamin D, can't eat it our tummies break it down. It behoves us to spend as much time in the sun as we can.

Yeah, here we are meant to give our babies Vit D supplements, as Vit D is important to forming good, strong bones. Lack of it can lead to rickets and no one wants that. Good thing is that we only need fifteen minutes exposure to sunlight to fill our daily requirements *phew* if I recall correctly, the use of sunscreen can hinder that a little bit. At any rate, it's just a matter of braving the cold during those few winter sunlight hours

I think light, dark, pressure, sun, almost anything gives angles of character to each specific place.
When I drink a Red Stripe Beer in Jamaica it taste quite different than any place else, although brewed in Jamaica. I guess there could be a number of reasons, I just don't know them.

Red Stripe is a nice drop. I imbibed some in Kingston and quite liked it! Haven't tried it anywhere else so I can't comment on the flavour.
