The sad story of a Scientist who accidentally spilled some Dimethyl Mercury on her gloved hand.

It's regarded as "Organic"because the Methyl component was originally only produced by organic processes (Methane, Methanol etc.) Today it is made from oil.

Labs today use it to calibrate Mercury detection equipment.

All the Methyl compounds are very poisonous to humans.

Poor KW, she was only 48 when she died in 1997. But her unfortunate accident means that things changed and now there are safer measures in place to protect lab staff.

I loved the way the presenter explains real science in easy terms so that anybody can understand.

Pretty scary to think that such a small amount of a substance could be so dangerous, especially when the person in danger was believing they were protected from it... And such a horrible thing to have happen too, I can think of nothing scarier than mental deterioration like that. My heart goes out to her watching the video.
