Apollo 11 reached the Moon... The Eagle landed! 
Apparently it was exactly 50 Years ago to the nearest hour, I've been watching a live real-time YouTube stream of the original TV coverage of the first Moon Landing which is being streamed by Channel 4 to recreate the original experience for viewers. Apparently the anniversary of the exact moment of Neil Armstrong descending onto the Moon's surface is about an hour away as I post this.

A pretty special moment... I wish we were still exploring the moon, along with everything else of course.

Yeah, agreed - for a while I've been wondering why the manned exploration of space seemed to stagnate for so long after the Moon Landings ended, it seemed like a step back, so I'm hoping the next step forwards will happen soon.
