Re: Human evolution
Wonder if the extra arteries are to help cope with a fast food diet?
Really interesting article. I always thought evolution happened much more slowly than this. Maybe it’s speeding up because our living environment has changed so much!

Very interesting article! Just what I like to read.
And Lion, the extra artery is in the forearm which means only lower arm and fingers get extra supply of clean blood.... so no, nothing to do with the ingestion of empty calories food! lol

Hmmm... I wonder if that has anything to do with our texting, typing, and gaming adventures.

Yes, that would make some sense! I do think it's very interesting stuff and it would be good to hear more about what they believe is responsible for the changes.

Re: Human evolution
Mutations don't always happen to give us something we need, in fact, mutations are mostly random and they are neutral (no harm and no benefit). My personal opinion is that this extra artery is neutral.

Re: Human evolution
Interesting, I always thought these changes were more purposeful and based on improved survival of the species.

Not completely true... read this link, it explains it well:
Evolution doesn't give organisms what they need.
