We were discussing the above at work yesterday! 

Hopefully it will be like when people got ill with H5N1: only a small number got infected (if I remember correctly less than 1000 in the past 20 years).

I imagine there would be teams, maybe small teams, working on vaccines for these viruses they currently know of. They all seem to have some potential to cause problems for us in the future.

They already exist! There are a few vaccines for the H5N1 strain but they are only to be used if they fear a pandemic.

Sigh... some say mother nature takes care of overpopulation in her own way. I wonder if this is it in action?

This sounds much less severe than the 2005-2006 H5N1 outbreak so far; that was all caused by people catching the virus from birds too.
It’s when it starts spreading between people that it gets scary!
Saying that, the last thing we need now is another pandemic starting while Coronavirus is still ongoing!

Yep, we’re sitting on a potential powder keg, LOL. Fortunately these viruses seem to only mutate in a dangerous way pretty rarely, so we’re not in quite as much danger as the article suggests!
