According to a new study (published yesterday) the best/healthiest time to go to sleep is between 10PM and 11PM. Going to bed between 11PM and midnight increases the risk to have a heart attack/ stroke by 12%.
Going to sleep after midnight increases the risk by 25%.
And, surprisingly enough, going to bed before 10PM increases the risk by 24%.

Scientists believe this is because we disrupt our natural circadian rhythm. 

The study was large, more than 88,000 participants and it lasted for approx. 6 years. 

This is one study I am sharing with my kids, as they love staying up really late all the time.

Wow, interesting... Never knew something so relatively minor could make such a big difference to your health!

It probably doesn’t help me much, as my sleeping pattern is all over the place! LOL

Of course they need more research in other parts of the world, not just the UK, because we don't know if people in other countries are affected the same (my guess is that it should be the same everywhere).

And 25% is a massive percentage when we talk about increasing the risk of having a stroke or heart attack!

That is very interesting! Thankfully I fall in the 10pm - 11pm category usually. The most surprising thing to me is how an early night is not good for you!

I would be interested to know what correlation there is to the time we wake and get up of a morning.

That's what I was thinking: we need a similar study to see if waking up time also makes a difference on one's health.

I can't stay up that late Sad and I get up much too early as well.

I'm usually falling asleep by 9:30 but there's always something to do so I pretty much fall into bed when I can't stay conscious anymore.
