OMG Riona, lust doesn't have to be a negative emotion if it's accompanied with love too........in fact, when you are in love, lust is a gorgeous emotion that we need, physically, spiritually and biologically.

That is my point, I don't lust after someone whom I don't love, although I don't feel it as lust it is more of a connection of hearts and minds even in a physical sense, it's hard to explain, but it is deeper than basic lust.

That's how we feel too.........but as lust is sexual attraction, then this is why I have no problems calling it that. And we need all those emotions and feelings.........it's all part of being human....I love being human! lol Very Happy

So does this mean that women are genetically programmed to seek out only high-status men with lots of money and resources, and to disdain more average guys with lesser earning power — that what women really go for is that big bulge in a man's pants (his wallet)?

Yes there must be truth in that. Survival of the species and all that.

I do know what you're saying Rinoa, with anger and hate, it would be nice if they did not exist. But tbh I think that they do add value to life and are necessary. We can't fully know the positive without the experience of the opposite.

Hate can mobilise actions against itself. I hate discrimination. I hate the concept of the death penalty. I hate alot of things.

I can't counter the death penalty, but discrimination usually stems from hate, so without hate there would not be discrimination

Without hate causing discrimination, we'd never know what it is to fight and conquer discrimination... take the civil rights movement in the 60s for example. Something had to push people enough to take action, to put their feelings into action, to do more than just think about it.

It's not a pleasant thing to think about at times, but hate can be very inspiring for us to take a stand.

Rogue you bring up a very interesting phenomenon . I read about a study that was conducted involving face shapes . Similarities between the study you posted and the one on face shape is also interesting .  To be perfectly honest , I got married young and I picked the hottest guy around . At that age I did not realize that one day I would want to hold an intelligent conversation and have it not be about race cars or sports lol . I love my husband , do I feel lust towards him well yes because he is very good looking but does that mean I like him ..well I'm not so sure . We are approacing a 20th anniversary but ...tick tock .That is another wrench to toss into the discussion . Can you lust or love but not like as a person ? Just because you have feelings does it mean your obligated ? I think when lust is involved decisions get made on a physical level that alter what we think we know about an individual . In step with the previous discussions it is my opinion that to lust one would need to be seen via in person or in a photo . Sexual hormones kick in and you think your in love . To me this behavior is primordial . To love is another beast in itself . For me love means a lot of things but it's more on a spiritual level . To lust is not to love and to love is not necessarily to lust . ..on the note of people we connect with that we have not met in person , well who knows . Do I think its possible to fall for someone like that , yes I believe I do . ...

Marily, it's like you are talking about my life!
Thing is that most people that get married young, are always driven by blind lust, mixed with love yes, but still lust........but then we grow up and the day we realize we are going to grow up without a proper companion......that day we are not happy anymore. That happened to me and I left my marriage after almost 17 years together.

Next one, because there will be a next one, will be different, he will be my friend, he will link with my soul........lust will come naturally.

I have to make sure this thread is invisible to guests!!!!

Lol ...Well I'm glad you made it out and onto better things . I've walked away several times throughout the years , once very recently,  but I come back like a fool lol . A few years ago I even booked myself a plane ticket and to prove a point I left on Valentine's day lol . I was to be gone 4 days , I stayed 2 weeks and it was a wonderful trip because I went alone lol . I admire your strength to get out and do what was best for you . ....I need some kryptonite lol .  ...... I thought of something else to add to my post above . On meeting people online , at the end of what I wrote above I just wanted to add a wink . Smile

Wealthy people had separate bedrooms..

In the 1800s it really depended on your social status and how much money you had. People with a lot of money could afford a larger house, and therefore had a master bedroom suite with 2 rooms that adjoined one another. The wife had her own room, the husband had his own room, and there was a door connecting them for "romantic interludes". If you were a peasant, chances are you didn't even have bedrooms. Your living quarters were more than likely a 1 room cottage where everyone slept in the same room. People slept together out of necessity.

Marilyn: We all have the strength to change our lives........we just have to find it deep within us....if it's really what we want.

VM, I knew a few older couples in Italy that had separate bedrooms or they slept in separate beds.........apparently it's one of the secrets of a long marriage.........i disagree.
