Soo this is America thread title is what pissed me off . No this is a small suburb and an incident being fueled by Al Sharpton . The protesters are using this incident as an excuse to commit crimes . If Americans were all racist we would not have a two term black President . Whatever happened will be investigated just like any other instance when an officer fires his weapon . If the officer was wrong he will pay for it . This innuendo that America is not free or that we all act like they are acting is ridiculous . I have a large family with many who are military . Some lost their lives and one his legs and I will be damned if they sacrificed that for me so you can say this is not a free country . Why when so many here are from all over the world zero in on America with such disrespectful comments ? The story is not the problem , the thread title and the not free my ass comment to me is hurtful and extremely inappropriate  and offensive . Furthermore no one I have ever seen or met acts like this and I have been all over the US . Respect ..sure ok well when you have some I will return it.

Peacefully gather ..is that what they are doing ? Lol sure they started at a church but they are not in it now are they , no they are terrorizing the neighborhood . The police have a duty and they are doing it .

This seems an exact reply of what happened in the UK, which was such a shock for the country to experience the scenes that we did. Luckily it did not last too long, but started to spread, and yes people did see it as an excuse. It doesn't take long before anarchy breaks out!

Mar, don't be upset, although i can understand the comments are about your country and no one likes to hear anyone saying bad things about their country. However we do have to differentiate between the good and bad. This video only shows that the people are gathering peacefully on the side of the road, there seems to be be no need for guns to be aimed at them. I am commenting on what I see from the video, I do not know what is taking place, therefore I cannot comment on more than I am seeing. I am sorry we have created this impasse where we cannot just address people without going along color lines. It would be so advantageous if we could just address everything without having to go along color lines. Sadly we do not have a history to help us through this senseless narrow gap we have created called racism. If only we could see all peoples as one with different colors without the baggage of separating them.

I only know what has been said on the media so I can't comment on the veracity of the reporting.

The rioting is a manifestation of a deep underlying problem. This is what I have referred to before as the 'Trigger'. The shooting set it off. There is an underlying racial issue in some of the southern states. I have noticed it myself on my travels there.

VM, my friend, you wouldn't know Communism even if it got up and kissed you on the cheek. The term you are looking for is Fascist!

Yes, Fascist!

Families have been purposely broken up and rely on uncle sugar. This is very prevalent with 'blacks'. There was I time when they had their own communities and worked a middle class life.

Lol..I don't care if you are purple in this country we all have opportunities . The young man that was killed was getting ready to start his college education . To destroy your own neighborhood and the businesses in those neighborhoods I'm sure is not what his family wants . Once an investigation is completed if the officer is found at fault I hope they prosecute him to the fullest extent . I said a prayer for everyone involved and I hope it has a suitable resolution for everyone .

Still Marilyn, that regular police since 9/11 have become more soldier equipped is what disturbs folks.

The rioting is a sad way for the rage to outlet, but they also are aware that to do it in a white neighborhood would have the National Guard(Those not sent away to the wars) come down their throats. No one wants to have apache gunships sent at them. wikileaks showed us all how devastating just 1 can be.

I also do not think the Militias will do any better, they may make the participants feel 'better" but the fact remains, especially since 9/11 that they are also seen as potential domestic terrorists, many are also racists but all are seen by the government and their corporatist masters as a major threat.

This is America after 40yrs of Reaganomics-trickle-down and corporate raiders, loosening controls and regulations has made us, an Oligarchy Fascist Corporate run state.

The uber rich need to be reset to pre Reagan taxation, and Glass-Steagall needs to be reinserted to avoid Banks playing casino and wallstreet needs serious oversight. Also the old fashioned Capitalism for all, a strong middle class making a decent wage along with single payer healthcare so businesses no longer foot the health bills would have made for a different society. the past 40 yrs has seen dog-eat-dog style social structure and economy merely implode on itself. Racism is still prevalent, more under the surface than before, but yes, chances exists so as to help show what any folks can do.

Owens made it inside of a car with a reporter from Vice News but police pinned down their vehicle and shot flash bangs and tear gas at them.

“You must leave the area immediately,” the police barked over a megaphone. “Failure to do so will subject you to arrest.”

Not long after, the demonstrators on West Florissant Ave. were assaulted."
