Tripoli Hit With Airstrikes From Unknown Party, 6 Killed

CAIRO (AP) — Airstrikes launched by an unknown party targeting Islamist-led militias in Libya's capital killed six people Monday, authorities said, as the interim government vowed to investigate the strikes amid raging street battles.

The confusion over who launched the two fighter jets shows the chaos still engulfing Libya after the 2011 civil war that toppled down longtime dictator Moammar Gadhafi.

In a statement, the government demanded the chief of staff and military intelligence to investigate the predawn strikes Monday morning targeting positions of militias originally from the coastal city of Misrata and its Islamist allies.

The strikes, under the cover of darkness, sparked fears that a foreign country like Italy carried out the attack, as the Libyan military does not have aircraft that can fly at night, according to a former colonel in the Libyan air force.

Libya's newly elected parliament recently asked the United Nations to protect its civilians and stop the fighting. Italy's ambassador to Libya even went on local television to say his country was not involved.

Both France and Italy denied being involved in the strikes.

Libya is a basketcase since the UK/US bombed it.

But still interesting that as Libya has not aircraft capable of fighting with accuracy at night, it does lead to a foreign power with the tech to do it.

You are welcome, Wink

Yeppers, the Bluefins are massively pricey per pound of flesh and the Japanese are willing to pay 1100 or more per kilo of the stuff, so Libyan fisherman want the same good cash crop the Italians have been enjoying. Meanwhile,,,the Atlantic Bluefin which they are disputing is endangered

Happened for less Rogue.

The Japs have been banned from fishing Bluefin here now, they were fishing them to extinction.

Southern Bluefin and also Atlantic Bluefins. BUT Japan got CITES to put the ABFT on the question list for further research while they consume the most popular of susshi and sashimi fish.
Mitsubishi Foods has tons in cryo-freezers so they can make a killing off wealthy Japanese business types once the bluies are extinct

Much money to be had so yes, Libya horning in on Italy's turf could get them bombed

How's this for motive?

The Irish spring is looking more like total chaos at the moment. It seems the US did not expect this to happen, now its free for all, and no one knows who is who. When you destabilize a whole area it's often is very hard to stop chaos.
