Re: Big Earthquakes
To the north of California's famous San Andreas fault is a less known, but possibly more deadly, fault line. The Cascadia subduction zone runs some 700 miles from northern California to Vancouver.

Oh! Ohoh! *waves hand in air*
I knew about this zone... but I didn't know it could be worse than the San Andreas. That's new and exciting information.
I am dreading the day The Big Earthquake hits the coast, they've been saying it's due soon for the last fifty years or so. Parts are built below sea level behind dykes and on very sandy soil. Tests have been done and they show that the ground would basically liquefy underneath your feet in those areas

It sounds terrifying what can happen to you. On the other side, earth has been going through these changes for ever. People always survive even when the odds are off.

Re: Big Earthquakes
It's hard to understand how people feel in a 'Quake Star.
Here we had 5462 'quakes and Aftershocks over 4 years.
The Cascadia Fault has had some biggies over the years, mostly in the Nth (Juneau) and Sth (San Andreas) but not much in the middle. The old Geological Adage applies here: 'The longer it takes, the bigger the shakes'!

Unusual for Australia...
http://www.news.com.au/technology/environment/reports-of-second-earthquake-or-tremor-in-southeast-queensland/story-e6frflp0-1227466076392TWO earthquakes have occurred off southeast Queensland this afternoon.
Geoscience Australia and the Bureau of Meteorology have confirmed a 5.7 magnitude earthquake has originated 131km off the Fraser Coast at 1.38pm.
Just over an hour later a second earthquake measuring 5.2 magnitude occurred at 2.46pm in the same area as the first earthquake followed by an aftershock rated 3 at 4.30pm.
The first quake was Queensland’s largest earthquake since 1918.
A magnitude 5.3 quake occurred around 9.40am on Thursday, followed by two aftershocks of 3.9 and 3.4 within the next three hours.

Re: Big Earthquakes
It seems there is a whole lot of shaking going on around the world. Who knows there could be new vaults building in the earth, and Australia is now getting it's turn. Earth quakes are a frightening phenomenon. Are you far away from the epic center?

Re: Big Earthquakes
There's been two earthquakes in the Vancouver area over the last 24 hrs, just quite small ones but they could be leading up to something. I'm watching closely...
