Re: CORONAVIRUS-Updates, discussion, etc
Nightmare situations Really horrible. Horrible for the healthcare systems and healthcare workers everywhere :-/
This is partly why I think we’ll soon have another lockdown in Scotland, and probably in the UK too.
And I’m wishing the best for Canada, especially Alberta, and hope the situation doesn’t worsen in Australia.

I'm not sure there will be another lockdown because too many people complaining and also the damage to the economy. I read yesterday that the city of Kyoto is bankrupted because tourism has been dead for almost two years.
A lockdown will be imposed only if the numbers of deaths escalate.
The problem is antivaxx and those not wearing masks, they are causing all this.

Re: CORONAVIRUS-Updates, discussion, etc
I just listened to Nicola Sturgeon live and the new data confirms cases are finally slowly decreasing. However, they are still a lot higher than a month ago: 20/08 we had 300 people in hospital, today we have 1100.
Fingers crossed this decreasing trend will continue... but I do worry about the Autumn. The UK is already being punished with food shortages/no CO2/gas and electric to increase dramatically, we don't need a lockdown on top of that (all of the above caused by Brexit).

It’s great to hear that cases seem to be stabilising a bit at the moment(My C-19 app has also been showing a falling number of cases in Dundee, which correlates with this). Just hope it can keep up.
I agree with what you’re saying about autumn and winter coming up, I think you’re right to be concerned. Especially as this autumn is proving to be very nice and warm in Scotland, which is having the effect of lengthening the summer, so when winter does eventually hit us, it’ll probably hit harder and more suddenly than previous winters have.
I’m hoping that won’t bring another spike as well.

That’s a great article, and I totally empathise with most of the people in Alberta!
I really hope a way can be found to get most of these doubters vaccinated.

Our state government has yesterday mandated vaccinations for 75% of workers jobs. Those in these particular jobs who do not get vaccinated will lose their jobs from December 1.

I blame Americans and Q-Anon for spreading stupid misinformation that many believe.... I try to have empathy and understand other people's choices, but antivaxx are really making me fed up right now.
In Italy you need two vaccines for most jobs now.

Q-Anon, the most successful trolling project from 4-channers on the general public. For the Idiots who believe them, I feel little hope for such fools waking up and accepting that they have been played by internet trolls.Agartha wrote:

It's very disappointing to see cases rising again in some European and Asian countries and lockdowns being put back in place. It feels like we still have a way to go.

People stop being scared, they stop wearing masks, increase of crowded places, antivaxx spreading the virus... the list is endless and all factors to the current increase in cases in many countries.

Re: CORONAVIRUS-Updates, discussion, etc
I feel pretty confused as to the situation with limbo that we’re still in regarding the pandemic(IE Between lockdown and normality), but I’m kinda pinning my hopes on the booster vaccine making it safe enough for me that I can finally stop worrying about this virus.
I really hope so, because the stress it’s been causing me must be doing harm in itself, especially if I keep feeling it way into the future.

This is somewhat concerning regarding Omicron and children...

It appears worrying on the surface, yeah, although we don’t know for sure whether the Omicron variant has been causing these issues by itself or not.

Re: CORONAVIRUS-Updates, discussion, etc
Only 36% of adults in SA are vaccinated and children are not, in fact, those hospitalised children are not vaccinated. Some of the children's parents were also not vaccinated.
We need to keep an eye on this to see if Omicron will affect children in developed countries the same (lots of children live in poverty in SA, growing up in terrible conditions and poor nutrition).
I think the lesson here is: 1) vaccinate everybody 2) make older children wear masks

Yes, Africa in general is very poorly vaccinated by the sounds of it.

Trump is pro-vaccine and Biden has thanked Trump for the vaccines... hello, has the world officially gone mad.

Trump's followers (together with Brexit voters) are the most brainless people on this planet.

I thought this was interesting.. in regards to AZ, which has generally had a bit of a bad rap over here.
