I think the number of climate change deniers is shrinking lately as people don't care what or if it's happening, people want greener energy to try to save this tiny planet!

I have to google this (no pun intended)... this is what Google Chairman Alex Schmidt posted online for the world to see:

Google made a mistake by helping to fund the American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC) and would stop doing so, because ALEC was “literally lying” with its position that man-made climate change is not happening. Schmidt went on to say, “The facts of climate change are not in question any more… Everyone understands climate change is occurring, and the people who oppose it are really hurting our children and our grandchildren and making the world a much worse place."

In the above article it says that also Yahoo, Facebook, Microsoft and Yelp have also stopped funding ALEC (I have not confirmed that with other sources).

We had the warmest years ever since 1998 and 2014 was one of those.
The greenhouse effect is causing this warming. Carbon Dioxide is causing the greenhouse effect, as it redirects heat back to Earth and since the Industrial Revolution we have been pumping unbelievably amounts of CO2 into the atmosphere.

But, whether we agree on this CO2 problem or not, we cannot deny the fact that the oceans have been getting warmer and sea levels are rising and that if we don't change our ways we are seriously endangering our grandchildren.

There is also little doubt the earth has warmed slightly over the same period; but there is no compelling reason to believe that the rise in temperature was caused by the rise in CO2.  Furthermore, it is highly unlikely that future increases in the air's CO2 content will produce any global warming; for there are numerous problems with the popular hypothesis that links the two phenomena.

According to IRS records, the ExxonMobil Foundation provided a grant of $15,000 to the center in 2000.[4] Another report states that ExxonMobil has funded an additional $55,000 to the center.[5] ExxonMobil stated it funded, "organizations which research significant policy issues and promote informed discussion on issues of direct relevance to the company. [...] These organizations do not speak on our behalf, nor do we control their views and messages."

The suits at Exxon are amongst the climate denial crowd, and I am sure there are other large funders like the Koch borhers, all who stand to gain from "business as usual".

they are part of the Koch Network, so they refute any and all information that will inevitably counter Big Corporate Profits and help the regular people.

In the 1990s, the group worked with the tobacco company Philip Morris to question serious cancer risks to secondhand smoke, and to lobby against government public-health reforms.[12][13][14] More recently, the Institute has focused on questioning the science of human-caused climate change, and was described by the New York Times as "the primary American organization pushing climate change skepticism."[15] The Institute has organized meetings of climate change skeptics,[16] and has been reported to promote public school curricula challenging the scientific consensus on human-caused climate change.[17]

Funding

The Heartland Institute does not disclose its funding sources. According to its brochures, Heartland receives money from approximately 5,000 individuals and organizations, and no single corporate entity donates more than 5% of the operating budget,[61] although the figure for individual donors can be much higher, with a single anonymous donor providing $4.6 million in 2008, and $979,000 in 2011, accounting for 20% of Heartland's overall budget, according to reports of a leaked fundraising plan.[62] Heartland states that it does not accept government funds and does not conduct contract research for special-interest groups.[63]

MediaTransparency reported that Heartland received funding from politically conservative foundations such as the Castle Rock Foundation, the Sarah Scaife Foundation, the John M. Olin Foundation, and the Lynde and Harry Bradley Foundation.[64] In 2011, the Institute received $25,000 from the Charles G. Koch Foundation.[17] The Charles Koch Foundation states that the contribution was "$25,000 to the Heartland Institute in 2011 for research in healthcare, not climate change, and this was the first and only donation the Foundation made to the institute in more than a decade".[65]

Oil and gas companies have contributed to the Heartland Institute, including over $600,000 from ExxonMobil between 1998 and 2005.[66] Greenpeace reported that Heartland received almost $800,000 from ExxonMobil.[25] In 2008, ExxonMobil said that they would stop funding to groups skeptical of climate warming, including Heartland.[66][67][68] Joseph Bast, president of the Heartland Institute, argued that ExxonMobil was simply distancing itself from Heartland out of concern for its public image.[66]

The Heartland Institute has also received funding and support from tobacco companies Philip Morris,[48] Altria and Reynolds American, and pharmaceutical industry firms GlaxoSmithKline, Pfizer and Eli Lilly.[62] State Farm Insurance, USAA and Diageo are former supporters.[69] The Independent reported that Heartland's receipt of donations from Exxon and Philip Morris indicates a "direct link"..."between anti-global warming sceptics funded by the oil industry and the opponents of the scientific evidence showing that passive smoking can damage people's health."[13]

As of 2006, the Walton Family Foundation (run by the family of the founder of Wal-Mart) had contributed approximately $300,000 to Heartland. The Heartland Institute published an op-ed in the Louisville Courier-Journal defending Wal-Mart against criticism over its treatment of workers. The Walton Family Foundation donations were not disclosed in the op-ed, and the editor of the Courier-Journal stated that he was unaware of the connection and would probably not have published the op-ed had he known of it.[70] The St. Petersburg Times described the Heartland Institute as "particularly energetic defending Wal-Mart."[70] Heartland has stated that its authors were not "paid to defend Wal-Mart" and did not receive funding from the corporation; it did not disclose the $300,000+ received from the Walton Family Foundation.[70]

In 2012, following the February 2012 document leak (see below) and a controversial advertising campaign, the institute lost substantial funding as corporate donors sought to dissociate themselves from the institute. According to the advocacy group Forecast the Facts, Heartland lost more than $825,000, or one third of planned corporate fundraising for the year. The shortfall led to the Illinois coal lobby sponsoring the institute's May 2012 climate conference – the "first publicly acknowledged donations from the coal industry".[46] Following the leak they also lost "a couple of directors and almost its entire branch in Washington, DC."[71]

Miami has a problem with spring tides and it's getting worse. Several low-lying nations in the Pacific are also getting flooded by seawater at high tide too.

California is going through the worst drought in 1000 years and Oz and Sth Africa are too. Nth east US is gettng the big freeze caused by the jetstream changing direction. Scandinavia is getting noticeably warmer as is Russia. Alaska is positively balmy for there.

If we don't have a quantum shift in mindset then things will get dire.

Exxon who has brought us many major oil spills, and that their refineries would be impacted by climate regulations?

The Koch Bors who also like money so much that they do not shut down for maintenance ever as it will interrupt their precious cash flow? Oh heavens forbid that they get less than 16miilion a day for their personal pay checks!!!

The point is, climate-change has nothing to do with human activity, it's beyond our power and control.

Yep Mother Earth will get on fine but we won't be around to enjoy it.

But no. it's not beyond our power and control. People need to walk or use public transport more, use re-newable resources more, think about the future that we are leaving to our grandchildren and stop being so bloody selfish. Our children and grandchildren didn't cause it --we did, so it's up to us to clean up the mess we have made.
