Three renowned doctors joined HuffPost Live on Monday to weigh in on all the facts about the Ebola outbreak, from how the disease spreads to how it might be stopped.

"We do have several vaccines that have been extremely successful in protecting laboratory animals, including non-human primates, against the Ebola virus," Dr. Thomas W. Geisbert, professor of microbiology and immunology at the University of Texas, told host Josh Zepps.

But what about developing a vaccine for humans?

"It's a very long regulatory process. From the time to develop a vaccine for animals in a lab to protecting humans... it's really just a lot of regulatory hurdles and red tape."

That's not all. Dr. Stephen Morse, an epidemiologist at Columbia University's Mailman School of Public Health, opened up about how economic factors come into play too.

"The vaccine companies of course have to be driven by the economic considerations," he said.

"It's a terrible thing to say, but they have to be convinced that it's economically… worthwhile to provide the vaccine.

our species doom will be because of our intelligence....we can create drugs for every disease....we think this is good...but its not.

the natural way is for survival of the fittest...those that survive...spread their strong immune system to future generations...creating a strong species

a killer virus will come along...and wipe us out...because...the human body's immune system is spoiled...weak...and lazy...survival of the fittest does not exist anymore

because of our intelligence...we are weakening humans

I agree with your theory: as our intelligence grows, our bodies are getting physically weaker.......our ancestors were much stronger and had much more stamina.

We work in environments where we never race our hearts...never work our hearts for full days...so.,,we never fully get the desired amount of oxygen required...to exist mentally and physically in peace

we need oxygen to race through our lungs and blood...if not...we become weak...stagnant...and on and on

why do we feel so good after sex...or hard workouts???

because we were feeding our minds and bodies oxygen at the rate we were created for

True what you say about how our sedentary lives are affecting us and it has been proven with lots of research: modern people breathe about twice more than what they should, because (like you said) they never exercise their hearts and thus they have very low ogygenation levels before exercise. 

It has also been proven that low ogygenation leads to chronic fatigue and depressive thoughts......which makes people be even more sedentary.

Normal oxygen saturation should be between 95 to 100........the closer to 100 the better. My last reading gave me 98% which is good, taking in consideration that I don't exercise.....but I will start, I want to.

(But, Whitty........don't forget that cigarettes fills our blood with excessive CO2 which is as bad as a sedentary life. In fact, if you exercise and smoke, you delete all the benefits from your exercise).

Try the vapour cigarettes, they do less harm and they can help you quit.......although quitting altogether would be better.

But yes, life in the city is a killer because of the pollution!!!

I didn't know you smoked Mr W!

Hub has been on the vapour cigarette since new year, he finds it very easy, but still putting stuff you shouldn't into your body (and I do worry about those oils that they have not been properly tested), but has to be better than smoking. When he stopped his persistent cough went within days!!
