I always thought the planet's core was plasma.... by that I mean a mixture of liquified heavy metals, due to the heat.  Isn't that what sometimes comes out as lava? Lava is plasma that has escaped to the surface.... right?

Don't believe the scientists have figured out exactly what sort of radioactive process is going on at the very center of the Earth. I mean, the CERN dudes could be shooting out the seeds of a black hole without any regard for what it could do to the rest of us! Whatever ignites the Earth Fire will take us for one more ELE.

I curious about the story that the Earth's core temps are rising. I'm not dismissing it but all the indicators we have are showing that the temp is stable.

Volcanoes are cranky fellows, they never erupt when we want them to and always erupt when we don't!

Yellowstone is not really a problem in the short term but Mt. Rainier is. It has erupted several times in the last 200 years and should it do so again, it will make a mess of Seattle and Tacoma. Lasson's Peak is another that needs watching.
