Re: Attacks on IS in Syria
Well after the Paris attacks, the UK parliament decided to hold talks and vote on if they should start air strikes on IS targets in Syria. This was held last night, and within an hour of a yes vote, UK fighter jets were bombing IS controlled oil fields.
This situation is escalating and I can't see it getting any better just yet. The world is definitely becoming a very scary place right now!!

No money for the NHS...
No money for disable people....
No money for grants for poor students......
No money for poor families.......
But money for bombing Syria...... at £60.000 a bomb.
I am so disappointed.....
My heart goes to all those innocent children that are dying horrible deaths.... and to those children that survive and have shattered lives and futures...
I agree, Stirks, the whole world is becoming a scary scary place....

I know Ags, I knew which way the vote would go but I was so saddened to hear the result I really like Corbin, I just wish more his party would have backed him

Media is loving this, lots of footage of the typhoons flying in and out of the base in Cyprus. Let's have footage of our military might and beam it all around the world, let's not worry as of course our bombs will only land exactly where they are meant to and not effect any civilians at all! Yeah right!!!

Stirks, don't they understand that now more muslims will become terrorists to kill the British?
The other day I read something sooo true, but please pardon the language:
Bombing for peace is like
F***ing for virginity.
So true!

Re: Attacks on IS in Syria
It will only be a matter of time before we have another attack here in the UK, and sadly I don't think it will be long!
Cameron remarked that those that did not back the vote in parliament are 'terrorist sympathisers'! No maybe they just don't a full on war!!!

Re: Attacks on IS in Syria
Now more extremists will become terrorists and kill and maim many in the UK because of this bombing: we have given them a reason.
And my heart breaks at seeing the children that are dying there...

Re: Attacks on IS in Syria
Exactly, they say the bombings are to stop IS so we don't have attacks here, but in reality it will make the situation worse, they will retaliate.

Re: Attacks on IS in Syria
All the bombing in the world won't stop ISIS, they are a very fluid mobile group. The only thing that will smash them is a massive ground force.
Bams and Cameron want the local countries to step up and supply thst force but the problem is that Saudi Arabia (the largest) is a supporter of ISIS and the Sunnis as is Turkey. ISIS is an off-shoot of Wahabbi which is the main group in S.A. Pakistan is reluctant to get involved for the same reason.
That leaves only Iran (Shia), which is not big enough to fight them on their own, and the Alawites (Shia) of Assad. Lebanon has problems of it's own to deal with, the Kurds are not interested is taking anymore territory and Egypt (Sunni) is sympathetic with ISIS. What a bloody (in more ways than one!) mess!
The UK is involved even before this excursion. The bombing in London a few years ago is an example.

Yes the UK has always been involved in the middle east problems and conflicts, but this latest vote on air strikes is just stepping it up a gear again.

Re: Attacks on IS in Syria
It sounds like war, rumors of war all over the world.
The question was asked here in the US, what would it take to get all the party's to the negotiating table. The answer was not surprising, some said the problem is Russia, others said it is Assad, and still some agree it cannot happen, at least not yet because The US does not want to work with Russia, or Iran. However some said the US might have to put it's tail between it's leg and join the majority who want the refugee crisis to end.
I guess you could say it's a tall order for the US because they have spent so much to get rid of Assad.
It seems the Russians feel the same way because they have spent tons of dollars to keep Assad for self interest, although Assad is no worst than any of the participants.
A big problem that I think Tim, and Ags addressed is the Islamic extremist numbers will grow and cause trouble sooner or later.
