Attacks in Canada
Just watching Al Jaz news and seeing the attacks on soldiers in Canada. Evidently one soldier was killed when two were mown down by a car, another has just been shot, and reports of gunfire in the Parliament buildings. Does not sound good.

Re: Attacks in Canada
CBC is telling us that there could be three shooters now in or around Parliament Hill. Everything's in lockdown... it's stressful.
Oh, just now... one shooter has been shot in the Parliament buildings, two or more still running amok. One shooter suspected to be on the roof of the buildings or a nearby hotel.

Re: Attacks in Canada
Haven't confirmed anything about the shooters yet as that story is happening right now as we speak... but a couple of days ago, the guy who ran over the one soldier in Quebec and killed him was a convert. Recently had his passport revoked.

Re: Attacks in Canada
I second Len, not Canada!!!! Not lovely Canada!!!!
Canada is one of the few countries on this planet that seemed so safe from all the rubbish that's going on everywhere else, mostly because Canadians are usually non prejudist and welcoming people........ so sad......
Kaere, has it only happened in Quebec?

Re: Attacks in Canada
The attack on the soldier was in Quebec, just south of Montreal.
The shooting of the soldier on guard at the war memorial and following chaos happening now is in Ottawa, Ontario which isn't far from Quebec at all. There haven't been any other attacks on our troops yet and I hope it stays that way.
Len, the War Memorial is just a five minute walk from Parliament Hill, it's all very close to each other there.

Re: Attacks in Canada
Aye Kaere, just finding that out reading the reports, so the car hit was Quebec zone, and the shootings are in the capital. I find it rather convenient for the fear mongers that this is taking place.
True Rogue, but the fear is how the right-wingers get to seize the power away and help give it to the mad men who want the power in their hands, and to seize liberty in exchange for "security" another Reichstag fire in the works.
Me too Ags, I figured that the situation would stay pretty much in America, But sadly, seems all our allies have to get caught up in this mess to make it seem like we are not the only target in this staged war as remember not too long after 9/11 Britain had their own bombings in London? seems that all are to egt their turn for the drama machine to keep folks in fear and under the idea that they must "Do something" about this when doing something triggered this when we drone strike and make new enemies of people who normally would have had no complulsion to go do this sort of thing. now they spread the violence via "converts"

They just interviewed a MP who assumes it is the work of IS radicals.

Re: Attacks in Canada
Aggie, I wasn't saying you were silly at all *confused* I was just wanting to make the picture clear. I'd never have thought that provincial boundaries were well known.
Rogue, I'm thinking that perhaps those arrests that were made in Aus recently may not have been such a bad thing. I'm torn on it though as arrests could easily get out of hand, etc. I want to be safe but not at the expense of certain rights, privileges, and privacy...

And that is the gola for these attacks, as they are the typical reactionary thing to suspend rights in the name of security.

Re: Attacks in Canada
Yeah, well... no. I don't think these attacks have been made by anyone in Canada wanting to steal power away. The culture of fear here is nowhere near the same as in the US, please keep that in mind.

Re: Attacks in Canada
Sorry, just adding... now a shooting at the nearby shopping mall but that situation could have 'ended' now (news doesn't want to say yet). Schools, office buildings, etc are now also on lockdown, bridges have been closed.
Hope it's all done soon, I've got friends thereabouts
I don't know, can y'all see this?

And I do hope that Canada stays that way, attacks like this seem meant to nudge people to that dark scary mindset of always looking under beds and checking closets, or toilet stalls before relaxing enough to use said items.
They did however manage to pull that off here in America back around 2001 and have been doing so ever more since then.
