I’m thinking two things: You’re at your best when taking down politicians, and remind me never to get on the wrong side of you... Like, ever! LOL
And those charts are great! Quite scary to see that the UK is so high on the unsafe list though :-/
You've been warned, boy!
hahaha but seriously: I am like this only with racists and those with any kind of prejudice . My job means I have to advocate for people who can't fight for themselves, I have to be their voice and I don't care if you are a cleaner or the president, I will always voice my opinion... ask my colleagues LOL
And yes, terrible that the UK is doing so bad......

Rogue wrote:Interesting charts. I'm surprised to see that Ireland is on the safe list with UK so high on the unsafe. Has Ireland been doing things differently?
Oh yes, Ireland did everything differently: they closed schools and universities immediately (whilst we were only washing hands and singing happy birthday as advised by our Supreme Leader).
The Irish cancelled St Patrick's day celebrations (17th March), the UK didn't! There was also a massive horse racing festival that went ahead, Cheltenham and there were more than 200,000 people there! I personally know a guy who went (luckily he is ok).
The Irish are also doing what the Germans are doing: they are hospitalizing people earlier than the UK.. in here we are doing it too late, by the time they go to hospital it's too late to save them.
I can go on.... lol

UK and US seem to have be4en slow to pick up the danger. An old friend of mine apparently died of the COVID just before Easter.

Yep, sorry to hear that Lenz. I’ve personally not lost anyone close to me yet *Crosses fingers* but it must be horrible... Sending you good vibes.
Great chart Aggie! And it’s awesome that you advocate for others who are less able to be heard, that’s one of the kindest and biggest things anyone can do! I 110% agree with you on prejudiced people too, and how to deal with them.

We are hearing how difficult a vaccine will be to develop. Evidently a vaccine for a coronavirus has never been achieved before. Hope this can be turned around.

Very interesting and so different from what the British are saying! Maybe in the UK they are trying to give the population some hope.... Professor Gilbert, in charge of the UK clinical trial, said on television she is 80% sure her vaccine will work... I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

Re: CORONAVIRUS-Updates, discussion, etc
I wonder if you are right about the messaging you are getting compared to ours. Our covid cases are slowing right down, we only had one new case today (WA), Australia has had less than 40 cases each day for the last 8 days now and news stories you would think would be quite positive. But some of what we are hearing is actually quite concerning.
The chances of a successful vaccine are very low, a second and third wave is quite likely, an expectation that this virus may reappear each year, travel outside our lockdown areas could go on till 2022 - 2025 etc etc. I have noticed you and TCL quite positive in some of your comments, and I just hope you are right rather than what we're reading.
Don't want to be a downer, but I'm keener to have the truth. Our government and health service has done an amazing job, and it's strangely easy to trust them at the moment. Maybe they just don't want us to get ahead of ourselves. Or maybe the media wants to keep us in fear when most people would be becoming more positive.

Re: CORONAVIRUS-Updates, discussion, etc
I think we need to stay positive but still aware of reality. In here 16 thousand people have died so far, approx 600 a day.... if we don't try to stay positive we'll all end up with serious mental health problems soon, especially those that are locked up in small homes/flats with no garden.
However, some are being less positive than Prof. Gilbert: Prof Nabarro works for London Imperial college and The WHO, and he said not long ago (today) that there is no guarantee a vaccine will be developed and that we need to plan in advance, for example a long term quarantine.
I hear what you are saying and I am aware but I need to have hope and have a positive attitude, mainly because I am a mother and my children's safety is my priority and because I have to face death at work, all the time, and my coping mechanism is to stay brave, face the music and believe there really is light at the end of the tunnel.
EDIT: yes, some people could become too positive and stop being careful, unfortunately many will start doing that if they think the danger is gone.

Re: CORONAVIRUS-Updates, discussion, etc
We have noticed that more here this weekend where more people are out and about, not as many staying home. It's a shame if we stuff up our situation here especially with winter on its way.
I totally understand what you're saying about staying positive. We all must for our families and our friends, and for ourselves.

Re: CORONAVIRUS-Updates, discussion, etc
Yeah, I’m trying to stay as positive as I can and look at the situation from a positive angle, mainly because I think my mental wellbeing would suffer if I focused on anything else TBH. I have a kind of survival mechanism in situations like this which involves zoning out from news of the unfolding situation most of the time and mainly focusing on the positives(Like the vaccine stuff) when I do check the news out.
I’m hopeful that a vaccine can be made ready sooner than later - if scientists are already confident of it that has to be promising IMO - and that we won’t have to face years of lockdown.
But you’re right to look at the situation from a possibly more realistic point of view, Rogue, and there’s definitely no wrong way of looking at it.
In the UK the media are now analysing the Government’s inadequate response to the crisis:

I found this article very moving.

Interesting article TCL, rather sad to read in hindsight.
News today is that New Zealand will ease it's strict lockdown measures from next week.

Thanks all. and here in MAGA-land we have idiots protesting in large masses, and when they get sick and start dying, maybe they will finally realize why they should have stayed safe in their homes, but stupid is as stupid does.

Re: CORONAVIRUS-Updates, discussion, etc
Len, people on Twitter are calling those racist morons Flu Klux Klan! LOL
Yesterday CoVid19 finally hit home and hard: besides 5 of my elderly residents dying in the past week and looking after ten more that are end of life too, I also lost a former colleague (he was only 55), a night shift colleague is very ill in ICU (she is only in her 30s) and my nurse colleague, the funniest most caring person you could ever meet, has been admitted to hospital yesterday.... I am not going to lie, I am scared when I think about it, we all are at work (I haven't told my family about this).
But what gets me going is planning things to do in the future, like my Masters, like a holiday far away. Being a mum helps (including my furry baby). Having a weird dark sense of humour also helps. And music.... and chocolate! lol
Stay safe people and buy those expensive shoes, eat that cake and date that person! Because life is unpredictable. Love you all

Re: CORONAVIRUS-Updates, discussion, etc
In the afternoon I've been told that another colleague is sick, with Covid symptoms.....I seem to be a very negative influence here right now and I'm sorry...
Yesterday our manager (nurse in charge) wrote us all a beautiful letter, thanking us for being brave, for facing these difficult times selflessly. That and the treats she gave us made us feel a bit better. My managers have been excellent, providing us with lots of PPE and also moral support.
Yes K, make the cake and eat the cake! Kiss your kids whilst you know you are safe... I want to hug my daughter but I haven't for a while Thank you both for being so nice, I feel the love
Let's all be safe........... let's all look forward to reaching 2021!!

Re: CORONAVIRUS-Updates, discussion, etc
Thank you, Lion.
Things are bitter sweet right now: my colleague tested positive for CoVid19, but she is feeling better. The carer in ICU has now been moved to a normal ward, off oxygen, still poorly but improving. The nurse that was in hospital is now home.... but we have lost more elderly residents, so our morale is still lower than usual.
Maybe I should start injecting people with disinfectant, as Trump so 'wisely' suggested..... /joke/ he is insane! LOL
