I have a unique memory of this song from the timing of the first time I heard it on the radio; at the end of June, 1996 I was going on a holiday to Yorkshire for a week, which meant I wouldn't be hearing local radio in Dundee during that time. This song got played on the radio for the first time late on the last night before the morning I was due to go on holiday, and it got introduced by the presenter as being likely to be a huge hit over the summer.
Although it wasn't a particularly big hit that summer, it did get played on the radio a lot over the next couple of months, and due to its quirkiness, it became particularly symbolic of memories which I have of that time:

(Divine Comedy - Something For The Weekend)

This song has a lot of memories for me from early 2007, and I vividly remember hearing the full version for the first time after choosing to play the track on my radio show in early 2008, and finding it was the album version; prior to that, I'd only ever heard the radio edit somehow:

(Amy Winehouse - You Know I'm No Good)

I first connected with this track during my first year at Uni, when it used to always get played as part of the rock clubnight at the Union every Saturday night; I found it fitted very well with the “lost” hazy drunken feeling I felt towards the end of nights out.
This has helped give it a unique personal feeling for me:

(Pixies - Where Is My Mind)

I immediately loved this song for its fresh, minimalist sound and interesting lyrics when it got released as a single in the early summer of 2006; it’s always been a song which has inspired strong feelings of wanderlust for me:

(Sandi Thom - I Wish I Was A Punk Rocker(With Flowers In My Hair))

This song has been bouncing around my YouTube recommendations for a while now, and it’s one which I connected with profoundly in the early summer of 2002, when it was getting regular radio airplay in the UK; I’ve always found that it’s inspired strong feelings at soul level;

(Vanessa Carlton - A Thousand Miles)

I immediately loved the energy of this song when it started getting radio airplay in July 2009, and I loved the message behind the lyrics too; it’s one which I think is very underrated:

(Mika - We Are Golden)

This track just came up in my YouTube recommendations, and it’s another part of the soundtrack of the summer of 2009 for me; I loved its rhythm and energy, and found it got into my head very easily too after only a few listens:

(Tinchy Stryder ft. N-Dubz - Number 1)

One of my favourite chillout songs ever, and it has a vibe which I’ve always been able to connect with particularly easily; just recently I’ve been thinking I should post it up here, and earlier tonight it came up in my YouTube recommendations, which is a nice coincidence:

(Corinne Bailey Rae - Put Your Records On)

One of my favourite Blink songs, definitely from an emotive point of view; I remember buying it the week it came out in February 2004 and listening to the CD repeatedly as I connected with the song’s feelings.
It’s one which has had a special place in my affections ever since:

(Blink 182 - I Miss You)

The early spring of 1998 was the first time I connected en masses with a number of emotive and touching songs, and this one summed up those feelings pretty well for me:

(Billie Myers - Kiss The Rain)

I was drawn to the melody and lyrics of this song when it first came out, as well as the message behind it; I haven't heard it much in recent years, but it hasn't lost its personal meaning:

(Travis - Why Does It Always Rain On Me?)

This song brings back a lot of memories from January-March 2001, when it was getting airplayed on the radio a lot, and ever since, whenever I hear it in any capacity, it reminds me of a happier and easier time when my life was also going through a number of interesting and positive changes:

(Nelly Furtado - I'm Like A Bird)

This track brings back memories for me of the October school holiday in 1999, which was when it first started getting airplay on local radio; I loved its freshness and then-different sound. At times since then it's gotten into my head easily too:

(Macy Gray - I Try)

I remember being so moved by this song when it originally got released that I found it hard to listen to without crying; it was the first time a song had made me so emotional, and amongst my first experiences of music stirring up such strong feelings in me. I was captivated by the beauty of the melody and lyrics.
Even today it has outstanding special sentimental meaning for me:

(Gabrielle - Give Me A Little More Time)

This has always been one of my favourite P!nk songs, and I remember(Unusually) buying it on cassette when it got released as a single in September 2002; I loved its energy and the sincerity of the lyrics.
Over time, it's continued to have a personal resonance for me:

(P!nk - Just Like A Pill)

This is the song which first made me notice Texas, and I associate it with New Year 1997, since it started getting radio airplay immediately after the start of January that year; there are a lot of memories from that time which it brings back whenever I hear it:

(Texas - Say What You Want)

I'd been aware of this song since childhood, but I first really connected with it when hearing it being sung on karaoke one night in the pub where I was resident photographer in early 2014. I found it deeply moving and was very drawn to its melody.
Since then it's become one of my favourites:

(The Monkees - Daydream Believer)

I remember this song got into my head - and the lyrics painted vivid mental pictures each time I heard it - when it got played regularly on the radio in the early spring of 1995. (Actually, looking back now, I connected with it amazingly deeply considering what a young age I was.)
I'd forgotten about it for years, till it came up in my YouTube recommendations recently. But it definitely deserves to be posted here:

(Annie Lennox - No More "I Love You"s)

This track struck me as the best one on Sum 41's Does This Look Infected? album, and when it got released as the 2nd single from that album in January 2003, it helped characterise a time for me which felt fresh and optimistic.
I loved its energy and overall sound:

(Sum 41 - The Hell Song)
