Re: TrueCrazyLion's Playlist
I first connected with this song on a night out in late March 2013, and I found I loved its overall sound and its energy. I found it was perfect for dancing to and losing myself in.
Ever since then it's been one of my favourites:

One of my favourite feelgood songs in recent(ish) times, I've heard it countless times in the last 3 years and find its vibe infectious(And never even realised it was a Justin Timberlake song till I searched for his other song recently and this one came up next in the playlist!).
Definitely one I enjoy listening to:
(Justin Timberlake - Can't Stop The Feeling)

Re: TrueCrazyLion's Playlist
This song came up in my YouTube recommendations earlier tonight, and it reminded me how much I loved it when it originally came out, for its unusual sound, as well as how it resonated with me on a personal level, because I had aspirations of a music career at that time and this song felt like something I could've recorded myself.
I've always had a soft spot for it:
(White Town - Your Woman)

This was the song that first made me a big fan of Lady Gaga, and it's haunted me on and off ever since it first got released, nearly 10 years ago. It's always resonated with me personally, especially in the last 3 years or so:

Re: TrueCrazyLion's Playlist
This song has always inspired strong feelings and made me emotional whenever I heard it, on what felt like a soul level; I immediately connected with it when it got released as a single in 2007, and found it stirred particularly deep feelings, more and more as the song goes on:

I immediately loved this song when it got released in the late summer of 2007, and connected with some of the lyrics on a personal level too. It became synonymous with a time when I felt my life was developing quickly and changing positively, and it's meant a lot to me ever since:

I've heard this song many times in the last few years, mainly on radio, and each time I've heard it I've found it profoundly moving and thought-provoking, as well as very easy to lose myself in. I find it very powerful:

What is it you like about the sentiment of Girlfriend?

The idea of following your intuition and just taking the plunge into a relationship, if it feels right. I've always been too shy to do it. But in this song she does and makes it happen.
I admire that bravery, I guess!

Re: TrueCrazyLion's Playlist
lol... I think you may need to re-examine the tune.
She's telling the guy to dump his girlfriend to get with her instead. A bit back-stabby.

That's just how it always struck me - what's your interpretation of it? I can be slow to get the intended meanings of songs, so if I've misunderstood it I'm happy to be corrected/informed. LOL
Edit: Oh definitely, I knew about that part! I was looking for deeper meaning in it. LOL

Re: TrueCrazyLion's Playlist
It's not an interpretation, that's what the song's about. She's telling the guy about how stupid his girlfriend is and how she can "do it better", that he should dump her to get with her instead. The video is quite accurate to the song.
Google the lyrics, it's pretty clear.
It's a fun boppy tune but I really don't think there's anything deeper to it. If you find something that works for you, then that's good. I just found it strange that you'd think it was a positive sentiment, considering...

Re: TrueCrazyLion's Playlist
I was more picking up more on the part where she says she knows he thinks and speaks about her, etc, and thinking it implied she intuitively understood that she and this guy were meant to be together.
But yeah, I can see why the theme of it might come across as backstabby if you want to see it that way.
TBH, on reflection, I think we might have to agree to disagree on this one.
People do have their own interpretations of songs, regardless of what the song is meant to be about. In this case, we had different interpretations of Girlfriend. Neither interpretation is strange, they just are what they are, and I think it's wrong to over-analyse somebody else's interpretation in what is a very personal thread for them... I certainly don't need to re-examine the song or Google lyrics which I've known perfectly since 2007, for example.
I do think Girlfriend has deeper meaning for those who choose to see it, I do like the sentiment of the song as I interpreted it, and I think that that is all good.
Each to their own

I connected strongly with this song from the first time I heard it, and have done, more and more strongly, ever since; I find it's a deep ocean of sentiment, very powerful, beautiful and heartbreaking all at once:

Re: TrueCrazyLion's Playlist
This song came into my mind for no particular reason this morning, although I hadn't heard it for ages; it's one which I've always been drawn to the lyrics of, as I've always thought(Even at the time the song came out) that the lyrics went much deeper than the song's happy sound implies they might, and I've always found their theme and sentiment pretty powerful:

Re: TrueCrazyLion's Playlist
Steps is a guilty pleasure for me since they provided part of the soundtrack of my childhood with their various tunes, but yeah, I can understand they might not be everyone’s thing
(I actually met Faye from Steps when she was in Dundee acting in a play at Dundee Rep in 2007, I saw her in the bar upstairs after the performance and we spoke for about 10 minutes - she was lovely. One of my favourite celeb meets!)
Who Knew is a beautiful song, and that’s such a nice comment you’ve written - very true.
One night in July 2010, a friend(who’s still alive and well now) suddenly came on Facebook at about 2:30AM and opened a chat window with me to tell me she was suicidal. I spent the next 20 minutes or so trying to calm her down and talk her out of it via the chat, and then phoned an ambulance for her, who were actually eventually able to confirm to me on the phone that they had located my friend - apparently someone else had phoned them shortly before I did - and that paramedics were there speaking to her, and she was OK. The happy relief I felt in that moment was something which I don’t think I’ll ever forget.
The next night she posted the video for Who Knew on her Facebook page. I was very moved when I saw it, and although I already loved the song, that really increased its personal meaning for me.
