Re: Covid-19 Vaccine updates
https://www.bbc.com/news/ukMs Sturgeon said that if Scotland receives the vaccine when it expects, the first doses will be administered on 8 December.
Early plans suggested that up to one million people could be vaccinated by the end of January - if there are no delays.
All going well, everyone else will be vaccinated throughout spring and summer 2021.

The vaccine is not compulsory, vaccines will never be compulsory here. As far as I know nobody will be penalised for not having it, but ,seeing this is a pandemic the likes we've never seen in modern times, I could not tell you 100% what's going to happen.

Re: Covid-19 Vaccine updates
Thanks for posting the priority list Aggie, that’s brilliant!!
Shame I’m probably right at the bottom of it, but I guess it means I have less reason to worry about the virus than the more vulnerable people.
Apparently there won’t be an option to pay to get the vaccine sooner than we would according to the list, so I’ll be waiting for a while yet.
Just hope my turn comes round faster than they’re currently expecting to get through everyone(Would mean many others getting vaccinated sooner too of course!).

Re: Covid-19 Vaccine updates
I forgot to say yesterday: if anybody wants me to explain how the mRNA vaccine works (like the Pfizer vaccine) let me know, I can explain it in simple terms (I just can't believe how many people think it can alter DNA ).
I have also read that Australia will be watching the UK's vaccination closely, to see and learn before rolling the vaccine out in a couple of months.

Yes please, that would be interesting Ags.
Yep Aussie is looking at starting a roll out possibly in March. That does leave us time to see how you guys will go.

So, the first person has now been vaccinated:

And over the weekend, the boss of the NHS has apparently called this the “beginning of the end” of the pandemic:

Re: Covid-19 Vaccine updates
Yep... I personally reckon we should be a lot better (closer to normal) by April (in Scotland at least).
Happy days!

That’s so cool Aggie, that you’re so close to getting it!! I totally get your excitement and nervousness, I can actually imagine it now!
And you’ve got a day off now? Enjoy it, you’ve earned it(about 1000 times LOL), and you deserve it!

Re: Covid-19 Vaccine updates
Thank you
The past couple of weeks I have been forcing myself to work a normal amount of hours (around 40 hrs a week) because I am tired, physically, emotionally and mentally....... but in a month I start uni and that's keeping me motivated!
In Scotland they also started vaccinating elderly people in care homes too, so they are doing #1 and #2 at the same time in their priority list.... I can't wait for normal life!

Re: Covid-19 Vaccine updates
Yeah, the situation is going to improve steadily at first, but as more vaccines become available at the same time as the Pfizer one also gets used on more and more people, the improvement to our quality of life is really going to ramp up quickly I think.
Also, because the different vaccines work in different ways, we might also find ways to stop transmission of the virus more quickly too.

Australia is apparently pinning its hopes on the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine.

Re: Covid-19 Vaccine updates
Yeah, that one should be a badass vaccine too once it’s completed the trials. I remember that for a long time it was expected to be the first one to be approved!

Re: Covid-19 Vaccine updates
Just to let you know today I had the Covid vaccine.
I had to queue for an hour and a half, even though it was by appointment, that's how many healthcare workers were getting it!! I am very proud of Glaswegians

Brilliant to hear that you’ve had the vaccine now!! (Or the first dose of it at least!)
And great to hear that so many others are getting it too!
And I’ve always liked Glaswegians as well, so friendly and such a great sense of humour!
