Re: Brexit Poll - June 23
Yes the leave campaign has won, it was very close though and there has been a high turnout to the polls. It's going to take a while for anything to change and for things to be put in place. Cameron is resigning which I am really glad about, I was hoping he would! Scotland is up in arms as wanted to remain and the whole of Scotland was swung towards remain, same in Northern Ireland. It looks now that there may be calls for another vote for Scotland's independence, and also a vote for a united Ireland (which in my opinion should have been done years and years ago!!). So I think it will be goodbye to the UK at some point in the future, just England and Wales sticking together.

It will be strange to have no UK in the world.

I agree with Stirks here, the pied piper wants to be paid. At this point all the history is coming into play. England is the glue here, now they are out will lead to massed divorce in the EU community.
The bottom line is immigration and demographics, I am sure it is going to play a very big role in the upcoming US elections. No matter how you look at it, serious times for Europe, this should have happened some time ago, it will be very important who will lead England now.

Wow this has been big news here, rolling news broadcasts all night. What will be the repercussions... unsettled times.
Independence for Scotland is looking more likely now Ags. You really must naturalise! Have your say.

No, I'm ok sweety, I've been here 20 years and my kids were born here, nothing will happen to me. It's just that, for the first time, I feel unwelcome, I don't know how to explain it. The move to Scotland is by September so we'll be there soon anyway, today I've seen the protests in Glasgow against the referendum and it made me happy, as nobody protested in South West England!
Rock and Roguey, no I haven't naturalised but I was actually thinking of doing it soon, before this whole mess happened. I definitely will, it's just that it will cost me a lot of money that I don't really have right now.
Star, you are correct, I have to wait for things to settle, it will take a long time anyway.
Stirks, have you read about London also talking of independence?

No, I haven't read about London. I do feel this referendum will also make some other EU countries think about doing the same thing now though. I think the world has changed a lot over recent years, everybody can feel the changes. It'll be all eyes on the US next. Big things are happening in this world and I don't think anybody knows what is round the corner, hence why there are so many emotions xx

You should move the NZ Ags. Plenty of work, sunny days, friendly people and strange place names like Waikikamukau and Paraparaumu!
Our Radio and TV have been swamped with the ref and it's outcome too.

That was interesting to see London voted Remain, whilst Boris being former mayor of London and advocate for Brexit led the rest of the country. I imagine business leaders there were voting to stay.
Will maybe Ireland leave the UK as well?

I'm sure nurses are needed there too! And kiwis are adorable!!!
I'm going to Scotland anyway and then we'll see what happens, I was already offered a nursing job in Canada but I turned it down because it is far away, but perhaps I will reconsider in the future.
There are a lot of people regretting not voting or voting to leave.

I don't think other countries will follow, even if their right parties want to: they are seeing and will see the cost of this exit and when they will balance the threat of economic ruin (and not having any help from the EU) agains the benefits, they will not leave. At least not now, I think they will wait to see what happens with the UK.
And to end my post a big LOL!

Cornwall votes decisively for Brexit - then seeks 'assurances' that it won't lose the £60million a year it gets in EU subsidies

Re: Brexit Poll - June 23
I think people voted without knowing all the facts.... not sure if this is funny or sad:
Wales town showered with EU cash voted to leave.

Re: Brexit Poll - June 23
It's sad, Aggie it does feel to me like the Leave vote was treated as something of a lark during a drinking night and now the next morning realities are kicking in.
I do have my fingers crossed that everything turns out okay without many job losses or other cuts but I think the word austerity will end up on newspaper covers in the near future.

Re: Brexit Poll - June 23
I can't believe people are calling and wanting to change their vote or even make a vote in the first place. What did they think, it was a game? *smh* does the right to vote now have to come with a Rights & Responsibilities page to sign first?!
I also see there's some concern about Boris Johnson becoming Prime Minister.
