Re: Brexit Poll - June 23
Guys, I'm with you, I can't believe that people didn't take this seriously and voted like it was just a game. There's also an MP who is saying the referendum is not binding, but I'm sure Brexit will carry on and that there won't be a second referendum. And I really pray Boris won't be elected as PM!
Yesterday I was off and it was raining so I was all day home, on my laptop, reading about Brexit from different sources (UK and Europeans).... and I have also done the online test to see if I got enough points to emigrate to Canada, NZ or Australia! hahaha
The Italians have been wanting to leave the EU for years, if you have 5 minutes listen to this guy, Paolo Barnard, from North Italy, he is an economic journalist:

Oh there are indeed!
Unfortunately since Tuesday there have been lots of racist attacks on foreigners in the UK, some posted notes telling 'Polish vermins go back home', some told a Welsh muslim woman (who is 3rd generation Welsh) to pack her bags and go now that the UK was leaving the EU...... very sad times indeed.

But on a good note I exceed the points needed to emigrate to Canada, so you may have me as your neighbour in the future!

Re: Brexit Poll - June 23
Meanwhile, here in America, we wait with baited breath to see if there is a way for Bernie to take the nomination, (FBI investigation/Massive Wikileaks divulgence, etc). Or we will see the battle between the "Know nothing Party" and the "Do Nothing Party" and multiple indy candidates, the anger against the elite are cropping everywhere.

Looks to be a chance that Scotland and Ireland may be able to block Brexit.

The Tories aren't too taken with Bojo either! Hillary (Blairite) Benn got sacked in the Labour Party, Corbyn has to come down hard on those rightwing socialists in the party and clean them all out, bring in some new blood.
Spain has an Election this Sunday and Italy is later in July I hear. Both countries want out of the EU too. they don't want to be Greeced.
Scotland and Ireland have to ratify the vote in their parliaments.
Tim.

Who is Bojo?
You can bet the separatists in Quebec are watching this all unfold really quite closely... I wonder if there'll be a new movement here towards separation because of it *ponders*

Boris Johnson Ka. Not popular amongst the Tories.
Norfolk Island has been taken over by Aust completely, they were self-governing for years. No Income tax in Norfolk Is. only Rates. Aust just went in and shut down the island Parliament and took over. Not going down well with the locals.

Italy and Spain are not doing well enough to leave the EU, I have relatives/friends in both countries and they tell me people are desperate.
I agree Rock, Bojo will not be allowed to become prime minister..... this hoping his lookalike Trump will also not be allowed. Len, I hope Bernie is the one!!!
Rogue, apparently Brussels have now said Scotland and Ireland cannot veto the referendum, as a referendum is not an election but just an indication of people's choices. Now it's up to the politicians in the UK to decide what happens.... big sigh....
Kaere, does Quebec want to become an independent region or its own country?
The world couldn't be more messed up right now.... everywhere you look.......

Oh yes, very much so. There are some there who have wanted it for decades. They've had referendums on it as well, quite close in fact. They consider themselves a "distinct society". There's too much to write about it here, a very complicated situation we have. There are many who consider themselves Quebeckers and not Canadians, more connected to France than to the rest of us the hated Anglos. If you're interested in this kind of thing, you should give it a google.

I will definitely google it as I did hear about it, but I never thought they felt so strongly about being 'French' and not Canadian..... wow.
Well, if I have to emigrate to Canada I'll go where you 'hated Anglos' are hahaha

Re: Brexit Poll - June 23
Kae, do you think this exit trend from the EU will trigger a new push for Canada to split into two?
For me the exit of England is the most complicated division since the second world war.
The British were at one time the center point of all transactions in the world, they occupied a third of the world most industrial nations. Can you imagine the paper trail they have to go through leaving the EU.
They already have quite a few parliamentarians resigning from political life.
The extraordinary fast departure of the British Prime Minister makes me think he knew what was going to happen.

That's what I pondered, if it would inspire the Separatists in Quebec to try to reignite that idea yet again.
Canada would not split into two, Quebec would separate from Canada (leave Confederation).
A Prime Minister resigning quickly is not unusual.

I am just thinking out loud, although I know it's nothing new. I consider this move to be quite unusual and strange for him to be so speedy Gonzales about leaving.
