Did not work well for tptW, but they do get to air strike, even if they were not able to get boots on the ground in Syria, lsol

Re: The Rise of ISIS
Yeah Mirman I read that forum when I need a good laugh! They are a bunch of conspiracy nutters there.
The shebang is a Sunni/Shia sectarian war. Yes, it started with Bush's little excursion into Iraq. The ISIS is Sunni backed by Turkey and Saudi Arabia and the Shia there are backed by Iran, including Assad who is an Alawite (Shia). The Kurds are a separate bunch.
Most of their armaments came from the Iraq Army who had no stomach for a fight and were set up that way by the Yanx. When they were attacked they ran away and abandoned their shiny Yank supplied equipment.
Remember that the Saudis are the most repressive govt in that area with Turkey not far behind. And Egypt (also Sunni) moving that way too.
Tim.

John Kerry Says U.S. Is 'At War' With ISIS
Posted: 09/14/2014 1:10 pm EDT Updated: 09/14/2014 2:59 pm EDT
WASHINGTON -- Secretary of State John Kerry said Sunday that the United States is "at war" with Islamic State militants, marking a shift from his insistence last week that America is not at war but engaged in a "very significant counterterrorism" operation.
Not that he thinks the wording matters much anyway.
"In terms of al Qaeda, which we have used the word 'war' with, yeah ... We are at war with al Qaeda and its affiliates," Kerry said in a "Face the Nation" interview. "In the same context, if you want to use it, yes, we are at war with ISIL in that sense. But I think it's a waste of time to focus on that. Frankly, let's consider what we have to do to degrade and defeat ISIL ... That's what I'm frankly much more focused on."
Kerry suggested that the public and the media have spent too much time trying to define the U.S. military operation against the Islamic State, a terrorist group in Syria sometimes known as ISIS or ISIL. The main detail people should be focused on, said Kerry, is that President Barack Obama is not going to send combat troops to fight the militant organization.
"I think there's, frankly, a kind of tortured debate going on about terminology," said Kerry. The operation against the Islamic State will not include "combat troops on the ground," he said. "It's not that kind of mobilization."
The president is trying to build an international coalition to help combat the Islamic State, and nearly a dozen Arab countries, including Iraq, Egypt and Saudi Arabia, have pledged their support. Kerry emphasized that these countries' military contributions will be key in taking down the terrorist group.
"People should not think about this effort just in terms of strikes," he said.

"Star of Isis"
The day that the Star Sirius returned, appearing just ahead of the Sun at dawn, was considered to be the beginning of the ancient Egyptian New Year. In our day and age, this day falls on or about August 1. Three thousand years ago this day occurred in early July. This shift of dates is due to the apparent slow shifting of the stars from our point of view on earth. Before the building of the Aswan Dam the Nile floods still began to rise and get their start in late June and by August 1st the inundation of the land of Egypt was going strong.

Re: The Rise of ISIS
A huge anti-terrorism operation in two (Australian) states today was sparked by intelligence reports that Islamic State was planning a public execution in Australia, Prime Minister Tony Abbott says.
Federal and state police executed warrants in Sydney and Brisbane which resulted in 15 people being detained and one man charged in Sydney with terrorism-related offences.
Mr Abbott was briefed on the police raid on Wednesday night, which included intelligence that public beheadings were planned.

Re: The Rise of ISIS
Hey Hey Star good to see ya mate. Hope the treatment is going well for you.
Why am I having a problem with that Aussie Raid? Seems to be very convenient to me. Stir up with ISIS and Tony sending troops against them and suddenly this raid. Something stinks and it ain't fish!
The US has to do something about ISIS, they created the vacuum that generated the villians.
Tim.
